Job Profile

The company is looking for a Maintenance Supervisor who will supervise a maintenance shift that supports plant operations. The key skills are people management, operational knowledge, training ability, developing expectations, and follow-through.

Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, to reduce product and process variability.

Education Level

  • Associate Degree (A.S., A.A.) or 2-year Technical Certificate in Mechanics and Electronics preferred or a related field and two years of mechanical and electrical maintenance and supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Work Experience

  • Possess work-related experience (a plus)

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Actively participate or lead a plant safety team.
  • Adhere to Quality work practices, follow all GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality
  • Assist with the installation of new equipment.
  • Assume personal responsibility to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.

  • Cooperates with all departments to ensure a coordinated work relationship exists at all times.
  • Create work orders and PMs.
  • Encourages suggestions from employees that will improve production, quality, safety, or control costs of production.
  • Enforces company policies fairly and consistently.
  • Ensure parts requisitioning is done properly
  • Ensures a safe work environment for employees is provided and that all employees are following all safety policies.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance at all times.
  • Involvement in Organizational Teams and committees
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records (e.g. work orders, punch edits, etc.).
  • Keeps manager informed on operating or employee problems that may require their attention or knowledge.
  • Recognizes and takes steps to resolve operating problems to minimize their impact on the operations.
  • Schedule crew overtime.
  • Supervision of maintenance crew.
  • Troubleshoot problems with equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to learn computerized maintenance management system.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as required.
  • Able to supervise department personnel fairly and consistently.
  • Be able to recognize problem situations and take appropriate steps to resolve them.
  • Communication and interpersonal relations as applied to interaction with co-workers, supervisors, vendors, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
  • Knowledge of basic mechanics, welding, electrical, fabrication, boilers, refrigeration, preventative maintenance, plant operations, PLCs, general electrical and government safety and environmental regulations.
