Job Profile
The company is recruiting a Maintenance Supervisor who will coordinate repair and maintenance activities at Martin Marietta’s Spec Agg Quarry in Golden, CO.
Interact with all plant personnel to achieve the highest levels of safety, production, efficiency, and housekeeping while meeting goals outlined in the business and profit plans.
Education Level
- BS Degree in Mining or related field experience (a plus)
Work Experience
- 3 years of supervisory or related experience
- Experience in aggregate operations with an understanding of mineral processing equipment such as crushers, screens, conveyors, and associated mobile equipment preferred
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist in the development of the annual human resources business plan and ensure the continual development of employees through training, cross-training, and other development tools.
- Assist Management in the scheduling and timing of repairs to all equipment at the site.
- Coordinate staffing with the Plant Manager and Assistant Plant Manager to properly and safely operate the plant and coordinate the same needs with labor law compliance and affirmative action with the Human Resource Department.
- Develop and nurture empowered/self-directed work teams in all phases of the operation.
- Ensure personnel comply with Federal, State, and Company safety and environmental rules and regulations through daily inspections of site, plant machinery, equipment, personal activities, and working conditions.
- Maintain operation security.
- Manage proper inventory levels of parts needed to maintain target uptime. Inventories include but are not limited to screen panels, GET, worn metal, bearings, misc. consumables such as welding rods and torching supplies.
- Monitor Plant operations daily to ensure production and QC standards are maintained. Take corrective action when deficiencies occur.
- Monitoring and reporting of safety and production KPIs.
- Overall responsibility for planning and staffing maintenance crew for a 4MTPY hard rock quarry.
- Purchase or direct the purchase of supplies and equipment following Martin Marietta’s Controllers policies – recommend vendors to reduce costs.
- Supervisory responsibility involves staffing, performance appraisals, training and development, promotions, salary increases, discipline, and motivating staff.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Be willing to prepare for future growth potentials within the plant and company.
- Computer/PC literate.
- Knowledge of plant components and departmental cost and production.
- Knowledgeable in MSHA regulations and compliance.
- Must be able to communicate (read, write, speak) effectively in English.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving history, and meet insurance requirements (MVR).
- Strong organizational and budgeting skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to travel to other plants or remote sites, by car or other commercial means. This may include overnight stays and extended periods away from home base.
- Ability to walk, stand, and kneel for extended periods in varying weather conditions and terrain.
- Climb stairs and ladders as high as 100 in elevation.
- Must be able to wear PPE including hard hats, steel-toed boots, safety eyewear, and hearing protection.
- Physical ability to climb on equipment to provide supervision as needed.
- Work extended and non-traditional hours as required.
Working Conditions
- Will work in varied environments including normal office settings and outdoors (in all weather conditions heat, cold, wet, humid, dry, or dusty conditions).
- Exposure to cement, clay, limestone, shale, and other raw materials and various chemicals, solvents, and lubricants.
