BlueScope Recycling and Materials is a full-service, ferrous scrap metal recycler. The company buys scrap from industrial generators, wholesale suppliers, and the general public, focusing on delivering the highest level of service.

Job Profile

The company is hiring a Maintenance Technician who will service equipment.

Perform repairs, corrections, replacement, inspections, documents, and files accordingly and report back to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Education Level

• High School Diploma or GED
• Trade School

Work Experience

• 2 years of minimum experience as a Maintenance Mechanic
• Welding, grinding, and torching experience

Duties/Responsibilities

• Conveyor systems, hydraulic systems, PLC’s
• Follow the dress code and comply with proper PPE at all times
• Perform daily preventive maintenance on equipment as required
• Prepare all necessary documentation (Bill of Ladings, Work Orders, Purchase Orders, Tool Orders)
• Set up and break down machinery
• Transportation maintenance
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment; primarily loaders, shears, grapple, skid steers, forklifts, tractor/trailer, and shredder.
• Welding, grinding, weld set-up, and torching
• Work independently in the absence of direct supervision

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical
• Pass a pre-employment background check
• Pass a pre-employment drug screening
• Problem-solving skills
• Sort and identify tools and parts
• Willing to work overtime and weekends when necessary

Physical Requirements

• Able to climb in/on mobile equipment
• Exposure to physical operations in scrap recycling facilities, including walking/climbing in active industrial yards with uneven surfaces in inclement weather
• Sit, stand, walk, and stoop for long periods
