Job Profile

The company is looking for a Maintenance Technician who will perform the duties associated with the maintenance of facilities and equipment that support the production of Caterpillar Excavators.

The position will report to Section Managers and will be assigned to areas within the business to meet customer and company demands.

Educational Qualification

  • No education level is mentioned, yet having a High School Diploma will be a plus

Work Experience

  • Possess a minimum 4 years of work experience in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial electrical/electronic production and material-handling equipment

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Complies with 5S and housekeeping standards
  • Lubricate production and material handling equipment in accordance with preventive maintenance schedules
  • May be required to set up and operate multiple machining operations including but not limited to the lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts. May perform welding tasks.
  • Operate and maintain production and material-handling equipment, including but not limited to fork trucks, conveyors, robotic equipment, and related tools and equipment
  • Organize and clean maintenance shop areas
  • Organize lubrication equipment and recommend changes to lubrication schedules. Submitting tools/requisitions for lubrication equipment to the appropriate supervisor
  • Perform general building maintenance as directed, such as lamp replacement, simple construction, overhead doors, and plumbing
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on assembly equipment in production facilities building, in accordance with work orders and technical documentation as assigned in a timely manner
  • Request direction from more senior technicians for unclear or advanced tasks Maintain a strong mechanical fundamental knowledge
  • Respond to service requests and work orders with limited supervision and direction without interrupting production facility operations
  • Strive to acquire the skills and knowledge of a Level II Maintenance Technician
  • Submit and assist with the resolution of C.P.S. Continuous Improvement cards.
  • Under limited supervision, perform assigned preventive maintenance tasks and minor mechanical repairs to production facility equipment
  • Use CMMS-generated preventive maintenance worksheets to maintain production facilities machinery and equipment according to the manufacturer’s recommendations and good maintenance practices
  • With direct supervision, performing basic electrical preventive maintenance, to motors, lights, and electrical panels
  • Work within the guidelines of authorized Company policies, programs, procedures, budgets, laws, and good business ethics, coordinates the activities, plans, and programs of the designated areas of responsibility

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Able to troubleshoot and diagnose problems with mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems, able to recommend and implement corrective action
  • Knowledge of basic electricity (AC/DC theory, relays, switches, solenoids, fuses, breakers, etc.), power generation and distribution (including three-phase), electrical safety, Lockout/Tagout procedures, National Electric Code, digital multimeter operation, and motor theory and protection. The technician candidate should complete live panel entry training
  • Mechanical knowledge of basic machines (pulleys, levers, etc.), pneumatics, hydraulics, gears, reducers, bearings, lubrication theory, drive components (sheaves, sprockets, chain belts, take-ups), and equipment alignment.
  • Knowledge of all phases of cutting and welding

Credible Things

  • A minimum of 2 years of work experience in a new generation-ASRS production facility, or comparable automated production plant/facility
  • Must be familiar with electronics such as photo sensors, PLCs, remote I/Os, servo drives, and variable frequency drives

Work Conditions

  • Regularly required to stand walk use hands/fingers to handle, or feel reach with hands and arms climb, ascend/descend or balance to heights that may require a ladder or lift stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in confined spaces and talk or hear
  • Occasionally required to sit
  • Occasionally lift or move more than 50 pounds
  • Regularly required to use close vision and color vision
  • Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock
  • Work is typically performed in a factory environment and is usually very loud
  • May be exposed to hazardous materials or greasy or slippery factory floors
