Job Profile
The company is searching for a Manual Machinist who will perform the most complex setups and machine various components on various machine tools.
Able to perform work in a safe and timely manner to meet customer needs.
Ability to work extremely close tolerances.
Ability to lay out and plan machining operations from prints, sketches, or verbal instructions with limited supervision.
Education Level
- High School Diploma or Equivalency
Work Experience
- 5-8 years of experience with rotating turbomachinery
- Advanced rigging capabilities
- Advanced machining capabilities on manual lathes
- Experiences with turbines, compressors, and other rotating equipment
Duties/Responsibilities
- Professionally conduct at all times when working with internal and external customers.
- Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
- Full understanding of use for tooling, drawings, work scopes, procedures, specifications and documentation to perform the primary function of the job.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Maintains equipment by completing basic preventive maintenance requirements and notifying the appropriate representative for troubleshooting and repairs.
- Performs most complex setups and machine tool operations. This includes turning, boring, facing, milling, drilling, reaming, tapping, sawing, slotting, grooving, grinding, and other required actions to complete the job.
- Promotes safety and quality at all times.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to complete layouts of most parts.
- Ability to read and comprehend drawings, sketches, job scopes, and verbal instructions.
- Ability to train other employees in the operation of equipment, reading prints, selection of tooling and machining equipment, along with repair processes.
- Ability to work to extremely close tolerances.
- Able to accurately measure and record all dimensional inspections as needed and pass annual dimensional inspection test.
- Advanced knowledge and accuracy in using various measuring devices: micrometers, indicators, calipers, gages, and other required tools necessary to perform the job.
- Advanced knowledge of machine equipment and machining operations of various machines: horizontal and vertical lathes, layout machines, vertical boring mills, horizontal mills, grinders, deburring tools, fixtures, radial and angular drill press, forklifts, cranes and various forms of rigging, jib hoists, personal computers, and other required tools necessary to perform the job.
