Job Profile

The company is recruiting a Manual Machinist who will perform complex setups, select tooling and require equipment for machining of parts to required specifications.

Education Level

Work Experience

  • 5 years of experience in manual machining (2nd Class Machinist)
  • Will consider candidates with 3 years of experience on a case-by-case basis

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities.
  • Advanced knowledge of machine equipment and machining operations of various machines, including but not limited to: horizontal and vertical lathes, layout machines, vertical boring mills, horizontal mills, grinders, deburring tools, fixtures, radial and angular drill presses, forklifts, cranes and various forms of rigging, jib hoists, personal computers, and other required tools necessary to perform the job.
  • Completes layouts of parts.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Evaluate experimental procedures and recommend changes or modifications for efficiency and adaptability to setup and production.
  • Full understanding of use for tooling, drawings, work scopes, procedures, specifications and documentation to perform the primary function of the job.
  • Fully competent in reading and comprehending drawings, sketches, work scopes, and verbal instructions.
  • Knowledge and accuracy in using various measuring devices: micrometers, indicators, calipers, gages, and other required tools necessary to perform the job.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Operate blast booth equipment, as required.
  • Participate in company-provided educational material, training, and reading technical publications.
  • Performs complex setups and performs unusual machine tool operations. This includes turning, boring, facing, milling, drilling, reaming, peening, tapping, sawing, slotting, grooving, grinding, and other required actions to complete the job.
  • Promotes safety and quality at all times.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to work to any critical tolerance required.
  • Able to accurately measure and record all dimensional inspections as needed and pass annual dimensional inspection test.
  • Able to reverse engineer components to create drawings and or manufacture. Maintains equipment by completing basic preventive maintenance requirements and notifying the appropriate representative for troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Flexible and responsive with a strong teamwork orientation.
  • Positive attitude and display of leadership.
