Job Profile
The company is seeking a Manual Machinist III (Manufacturing) who will be responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and consumables, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
Produces small batches or large quantities of metal parts and consumables.
Ensures quality products are being produced and maintains a safe, clean, and productive work environment.
Education Level
- College Diploma in Machining or Tool and Die or equivalent experience
- Licensing as Machinist
Work Experience
- Possess work-related experience
Duties/Responsibilities
Technical-
- Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers, etc.
- Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter.
- Complete any required documentation – manage and complete the Manufacturing Orders as per company process.
- Confer with engineering, supervisory, and manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information.
- Follows documented procedures standard work, routings, and blueprints to perform safe and defect-free operations to create and machine components.
- Lay out, measure, and mark metal stock to display the placement of cuts.
- Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as conventional lathe, milling machine, drill press, radial arm drill, and the occasional use of CNC equipment.
- Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers, gages, etc.
- Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
- Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and determine the need for adjustments or repairs.
- Position heavy fabricated metal components in machining fixtures utilizing overhead and jib cranes and other lifting devices per procedure.
- Rotate to various assigned machines as required to meet production requirements.
General-
- Complies with KMC safety policies and applicable government, customer, or industry regulations or requirements.
- Maintains hand tools and equipment to ensure safe operation.
- Maintains orderly workshop and ensures housekeeping requirements are met.
- Performs other relevant duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Responsibility for identifying and reporting any unsafe work habits, workplace incidents, or near misses.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
- Good communication skills to work with multi-dimensional teams.
- Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and their applications in machining.
- Knowledge of manual machine tools, CNC, and power tools, including their designs, uses, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Knowledge of the safe operation of machines and other tools within the production facility.
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
