Job Profile

The company is searching for a Manufacturing Engineer who will provide technical leadership for our process engineering and design teams by providing direction and priority on best practice focus areas and project scopes, leveraging expertise across the plant.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will guide engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.

Education Level

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline

Work Experience

  • 6+ years of experience in an engineering role in a manufacturing or machining environment
  • Knowledge of machining processes. Tooling and fixture design experience.
  • CNC programming experience.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Apply statistical methods to determine and improve process capability, repeatability, first-pass yields, and conformance to quality requirements.
  • Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for the purchase of equipment, materials, or parts. Evaluate products/processes according to specifications, cost, and quality standards.
  • Determine units requiring environmental testing and specify a minimum number of samples to obtain statistically valid data.
  • Direct department activities to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, DFMA, and develop test procedures.
  • Draft FMEA or formulate mathematical models to identify units posing excessive failure risks and support proposed changes in design.
  • Plan and direct engineering personnel in the fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and the development of methods and procedures for testing products and systems.
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes in industrial plants: Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, using knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
  • Provide daily engineering technical support and leadership for manufacturing operations including, machining, assembly, testing, and packaging.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and tools and material knowledge in engineering design
  • Proficient in the use of 3D CAD solid modeling software Desk Inventor.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently required to walk, talk, or hear.
  • Occasionally required to stand, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Occasionally lift or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • Work in both office and manufacturing environments.
  • May occasionally be required to perform job duties outside the typical office setting.
