Job Profile

The company is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer who will ensure the end product meets customer needs.

Responsible for initiating and implementing technical improvements, preventing and resolving technical problems, and assessing the capabilities of the processes.

Provide all aspects of technical leadership in the improvement of manufacturing processes, manufacturing equipment efficiencies, and product quality.

Education Level

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline

Work Experience

  • 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated expertise in root cause analysis
  • Proven results in driving product and process improvement in the manufacturing environment

Duties/Responsibilities

Living the Owens Corning Safety Stand (Living Safely)-

  • Ensure all practices and procedures within their control are safe, environmentally compliant, and permit compliant
  • Ensures a safe and environmentally compliant workplace where safety is the priority
  • Leads by example through hazard recognition and elimination
  • Reports and investigates injuries, first aid, and near misses
  • Utilize technical knowledge to provide a safe and secure work environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors

Delivery to Customer/Business-

  • Coordinates with upstream and downstream processes to meet production demands, aligning people, raw material, and machine capacities
  • Developing and implementing procedures and systems to ensure products consistently meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Partnering with our Product Technical Leaders to develop Product Specifications that are achievable and capable in the manufacturing environment.
  • Supporting trials for new and existing products to ensure they meet our customers’ fitness for use
  • Understand and communicate customer expectations and Critical Product Characteristics to employees through effective use of process and product specifications, standard work, control plans, and routine reporting

Process Performance-

  • Analyze product and process data to optimize performance. Identify and implement process improvements and best practices with the goal of enhancing safety, functionality, and efficiency.
  • Identifying and requesting capital funding for equipment, modifications, etc.
  • Performs root cause analysis in partnership with key stakeholders to address quality issues, implementing sustainable corrective actions for process shifts or upsets
  • Support plant maintenance and operations teams in system and equipment troubleshooting and technology transfer
  • Support the TPM process through Daily Management and participating in the AM area or Pillar Teams as required.

Leading/Developing Talent-

  • Educate primary employees in the manufacturing process and process control procedures
  • Effectively communicates critical plant performance metrics to team members daily to ensure engagement
  • Engages team members to collaboratively own the success of the business by contributing to continuous improvement in the areas of safety, quality, cost, productivity, etc.
  • Implements and documents corrective action when performance issues occur
  • Monitors and enforces all plant and corporate policies and procedures
  • Provides candid feedback on expectations and performance to members of the team regularly, and drives appropriate actions for further improvement
  • Recognizes and rewards positive behaviors and contributions to critical plant performance metrics

Leads Continuous Improvement Activities-

  • Leads Focused Improvement activities to improve process capability and efficiencies, reduce costs, and eliminate waste
  • Leverages standard work to minimize variation and waste
  • Participates in and leads Kaizen and 5S events in various work areas throughout the plant
  • Partners with relevant stakeholders to optimize processes and drive continuous improvement initiatives

Preferred Experience-

  • 5 years of experience in continuous manufacturing (preferred)
  • Leadership experience in a matrix environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean Manufacturing experience

  • May face noisy, hot, or hazardous environments
  • May work long hours or rotating shifts
  • Splits time between the office and the production floor
  • Works in factories or industrial plants
