Job Profile
The company is recruiting a Manufacturing Engineer (Product/Planning) who will provide Engineering capability to operational and development programs to enable and deliver zero-defect projects utilizing engineering and problem-solving skills.
Accountable for delivering robust, capable manufacturing process technology as it applies to materials, tooling, part fabrication, and assembly.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (college/university) or in lieu of a degree 5+ years of Manufacturing engineering experience
Work Experience
- Possess 1 year of manufacturing engineering experience
Duties/Responsibilities
- Exemplifying a safety-first mindset and ensuring compliance with the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and standards.
- Technical expertise at a local project level in governance and deployment of manufacturing development and integration for production within GKN Aerospace.
- Provides technical expertise to rapidly solve issues pertaining to vendor schedule or quality.
- Breaks down technical problems, risks, and opportunities, in the correct order to create products and add value to GKN Aerospace by creating Zero Defects
- Leads positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers
- Continuously improve production processes by implementing Lean initiatives.
- Provide local project technical oversight for the development of manufacturing process solutions to complex problems through Local project technical lead for the implementation of production planning, from original concept through to production. Design these processes to a high level of process capability by utilizing the GKN standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite.
- Implement the global process for product development, first article development, configuration changes, build process definition, and implementation.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations or program requirements
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
- Ability to read, write and comprehend blueprints, ASME Y14.5
- Ability to use test equipment and inspection equipment
- Aerospace experience (strongly preferred)
- Customer-facing experience (a plus)
- Fluent in the English language, both written and spoken
- Project/Program Management skills
- Working knowledge of quality system models such as ISO9000, AS9100, or D1-9000
Additional Qualifications
- Familiarity with the AS9145 APQP process or equivalent
- Experience with auditing
- CAD and or various computer systems, Catia preferred
- Fabrication, machining, welding, and assembly experience (preferred)
- Liaison engineering experience (preferred)
- Root cause methodologies experience
- Training or experience in lean tools and techniques (Practical Problem Solving, A3, PFMEA, or Fishbone diagrams)
- Six Sigma green belt certification or training
