Job Profile

The company is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager who will be responsible for supporting the manufacturing operation by providing tooling, processes, equipment, etc. through the coordination of a technical staff assigned to provide for the needs of the shop operation.

Educational Qualification

Work Experience

  • Possess at least 3 years of experience in a supervisory role
  • At least 5 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering
  • 10 years of experience in welding-related activities

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Conduct or review welding-related failure analysis.
  • Coordinates the installation of new machines and equipment and process changes to provide the most efficient and economical manufacture of quality parts.
  • Ensure that the 5-year capital plan positions the Fabrications teams to achieve long-term PQVC (People, Quality, Velocity, and Cost)
  • Ensures optimum utilization of equipment and space by coordinating the layout of areas such as storage areas, test equipment, etc. to accommodate the changing production requirements.
  • Establishes standards and works with shop personnel to resolve problems related to processes, tooling, equipment, etc.
  • Lead the Planning and Manufacturing Engineering team to achieve safety goals, capacity requirements, product cost, and quality commitments.
  • Manage Capital projects to achieve goals related to RFI approval, spending targets, and expense budgets for smaller projects.
  • Process owner for the Facility Weld Quality Plan and owner of the Welding CAV audit for the facility.
  • Provide Technical Expertise and Support for current Fabrication processes, including manual and robotic welding as well as part assembly.
  • Represent the facility and enterprise in external welding-related communities.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the weld quality plan including welder, weld process, weld equipment, and welding material qualifications to Caterpillar Inc standards.
  • Serve as a liaison between engineering and manufacturing on weld-related issues.
  • Supervise a work unit of management and salaried employees where planning, scheduling, monitoring, and reviewing the work of subordinates is required.
  • Work with Product Support to assist with Field Repair Procedures for weld-related issues.

  • Project management experience or skills (credible)
