Job Profile
The company is looking for a Manufacturing Lab Technician who will assist in transitioning products into production by maintaining detailed records, providing manufacturability feedback, and supporting equipment improvement initiatives.
Education Level
- Not mentioned, a High School Diploma (a plus)
Work Experience
- Experience with complex production equipment, including Spuhl P450 and 460 coilers and PA 494 assembler.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assemble and overhaul machines or components.
- Demonstrate leadership skills and the ability to lead the lab team when needed.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues.
- Document tooling, machine settings, recipes, quality checks, and observations in a retraceable format linked to development project numbers.
- Ensure all safety devices and machine guards are in place and functional.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment under 6S standards.
- Maintain lab equipment to meet performance, quality, and safety requirements.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as ISO 9001:2015, TPM, ECO, and L&P projects.
- Perform changeovers and adjust setups to meet design intent.
- Program and troubleshoot computer-based control systems.
- Provide feedback to improve product manufacturability, cost, and quality.
- Set up machines and create recipes for product development samples.
- Support EOJT (Essential On-the-Job Training) activities.
- Support TPM initiatives, identify PM needs, and assist in part rebuilding.
- Train employees on equipment operation and maintenance.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to read engineering drawings and quality specifications and translate them into coil and unit setups.
- Good communication and teamwork capabilities.
- Proficient with maintenance tools, ultrasonic welding, and knowledge of wire forming.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with a willingness to learn control systems.
- Understanding of mechanical/electrical schematics and related math calculations.
Work Environment
- Ability to stand and walk continuously; frequent bending, reaching, and climbing on equipment.
- Adequate vision and hearing to detect quality issues and operate machinery safely.
- Lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs. as needed.
- Use of hands for detangling wire, pulling coils, and handling tools or baskets.
