Job Profile

The company is seeking a Manufacturing Machinist who will set up and operate all machine shop equipment to make or repair all types of metal parts and equipment.

Tools/Equipment – Horizontal boring mills, lathes, drill press, welding equipment, grinders, saws, hoists, micrometers, dial indicators, layout tools, etc.

Educational Qualification

  • The applicants may be required to have a High School Diploma

Work Experience

  • The candidates should have 2 or more years of machine shop experience (preferred)
  • The company will accept equivalent education in lieu of experience. This does not include vocational school experience. Experience in turning, boring, facing, and thread cutting.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Cross inspects work of others
  • Maintains machine tooling and jigs in an orderly fashion. Requisitions parts and supplies as needed.
  • Observes workpiece and verifies conformance to specifications and prints.
  • Performs CNC programming of mill
  • Performs routine maintenance and repair on machine shop equipment
  • Reads and interprets prints making necessary mathematical calculations to lay out stock or repair damaged parts.
  • Re-grinds and sharpens tools as needed.
  • Sets up and operates large boring mills, lathes, universal mills, and drill press.
  • Uses hoist to the position workpiece and correctly aligns and fastens workpiece to the machine.
  • Uses precision measuring and layout tools to determine machining methods and work processes.
  • When required, spot welds
  • Obeys all safety rules and performs housekeeping assignments.

  • Basic computer skills
  • Equivalent education in lieu of experience. This does not include vocational school experience.  Experience in turning, boring, facing, and thread cutting.

  • Proper operation of cranes
  • Proper operation of fork trucks
  • Proper operation of horizontal boring mill
  • Proper operation of a lathe
  • Proper operation of universal mill
  • Read assembly drawings
  • Read casting prints
  • Read machine drawings
  • Safety training (Haz-Com, Lock Out/Tag Out, Confined Space, BBP, High Voltage, Lifting)
  • Set up a MIG welder
  • Use basic math
  • Use caliper
  • Use depth mics
  • Use dial indicators
  • Use feeler gauge
  • Use grinders
  • Use micrometer
  • Use tape
