Job Profile

The company is hiring a Manufacturing Process Engineer who will primarily be responsible for managing and launching all customer projects. Also, maintain the bill of material and revision changes throughout the life of the project.

Educational Level

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

Work Experience

  • 3-5 years of related experience or equivalent

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Abide by all Company policies including, but not limited to the following; Health and safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook
  • Anything it takes to complete the required tasks. Example (dealing with vendors for tooling, product specifications, etc.)
  • Completion of Job Instruction sheets, set-up instructions, and re-work instructions
  • Continually review project progress and adjust parameters if necessary to steer the project to a successful completion
  • Co-ordinate initial product shipments to ensure product is delivered on time
  • Co-ordinates programs as per the APQP process and monitors the work-associated resources during the project implementation
  • Create a product bill-of-material-drawing book for production and keep it updated
  • Demonstrate 5S Methodology in your work area
  • Designing jigs, fixtures, and templates as required for production
  • Designing new products and drawings upon customer’s sketches
  • Develop sheet-metal parts Flat Layouts for laser-plasma cutting
  • Enter the bill of material in MRP software and keep it updated
  • Implement error-proofing and capacity planning
  • Keeps customers informed by updating timelines or open issues list
  • Maintains/updates all related costs as per the program budget
  • Manage program to ensure that implementation and related activities are carried out following customer’s specified objectives
  • Must understand the six elements of the Quality System, Record Retention, Document Control, Non-conforming Material, Corrective Action, Preventative Action, and internal audits as well as department procedures.
  • Must use or wear equipment, protective devices, or clothing as required by Martinrea Industrial Canada
  • Must work by Health & Safety regulations, Martinrea Industrial Canada rules, policies, and procedures
  • Perform standardized work studies
  • Plans and develops methods and procedures for implementing the program to include timing, concept, feasibility, design review, tooling/equipment, try-out, prototype, mass production parts, launch and final buy-off
  • Prepares and updates upper management team with program timing and any major issue that needs to be resolved
  • Process planning- new product
  • Produce bill-of-materials, detail, and welding drawings for all different projects
  • Produce GD and T drawings where required
  • Release First Article parts/PPAP parts before production and chase them on the shop floor
  • Tooling, assembly, manufacturing and production knowledge, aid and recommendation
  • Upon receiving any change request from Customer or Production, elaborate on the ECNs (Engineering Change Notification), make them signed for management, and distribute and file them.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to work in a team environment and be both a team player and team leader
  • Ability to work independently without supervision and with minimum direction
  • Desire to learn the business, and understand the production process by walking the floor and participating in production meetings
  • Ensure that all duties and tasks are carried out safely and efficiently and at no time is the employee or their co-workers placed in an unsafe condition
  • Excellent attendance
  • Experience in an industrial metal fabrication and assembly environment
  • Good understanding of flat development methods, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance, Metrology, and Statistical Process Control fundamentals
  • Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles and application
  • Project Management skills
  • Respect and understanding of the Customer/Supplier relationship
  • Use a logical approach to identifying and addressing problems and control weaknesses

Required Qualifications

  • Good organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of Pro-E, AutoCAD, and Solid Works software
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong project management background

Working Conditions

  • Both office setting and production environment
  • Constant communication with employees, peers, and management

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work on a computer for long periods
  • Ability to be present on the production floor daily

Health/Safety

  • Must work following Health and Safety regulations, Company Rules, Plant Rules, policies and procedures
  • Must use or wear personal protective equipment and certain clothing as required by the Company
