Job Profile

The company is seeking a Manufacturing Quality Engineer with knowledge of mechanical/electrical parts for semiconductor wafer fabrication equipment.

Education Level

  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or equivalent experience.

Work Experience

  • 7+ years of related experience in high-technology manufacturing, preferably in semiconductor capital equipment or related industry.
  • ASQ CQA, CQT, or CQE Certification (preferred)
  • Experience in or knowledge of standard fabrication practices of structural frame, sheet metal fabrication, and precision machining process (Aluminum /Stainless Steel).
  • Expertise in mechanical drawing interpretation using ASME Y14.5 (Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Hands-on experience in supplier assessment, qualification, audit, and quality management
  • Hands-on experience with ISO 9001 or equivalent quality management systems and tools.
  • Hands-on knowledge of problem-solving methodologies (8D, 5 why’s, DOE, PFMEA, etc.) and quality engineering experience (required)

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Conduct supplier technical/quality process audits and risk assessments. Drive closure on improvement actions.
  • Conducts supplier assessments (emphasizing manufacturing capabilities and quality management systems) of new and existing suppliers.
  • Drive failure analysis on non-conformance materials caused by suppliers and closure on non-conformance reports.
  • Drive first article qualification at supplier by providing technical expertise.
  • Ensures suppliers’ manufacturing processes are in place to produce reliable products in a repeatable manner; develops and audits quality control systems.
  • Interface with internal customers on quality issues and actively participate in failure analysis and corrective action efforts.
  • Manages supplier or product qualification projects and provides regular updates to management.
  • Provide supplier quality executive summary monthly to management.
  • Provide technical/quality training to suppliers.
  • Provides expertise in manufacturing processes for mechanical and electrical components such as structural frames, sheet metals, welding, precise machined parts, electrical cables/harnesses, etc.
  • Will require frequent travel to suppliers for on-site audits and meetings.
  • Work with cross-functional team to complete periodic supplier scorecards and drive improvement.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability for good written and verbal communication of technical content in English is required.
  • Strong passion and an aptitude for problem-solving in a collaborative team environment are required.
  • Strong project management skills are required.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Software – Excel, Word, and PowerPoint are required.
  • Working knowledge in the application of Lean/Six Sigma.
  • Working knowledge in the use and application of SPC.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing, office, warehouse, or cleanroom environment.
  • The ability to talk on the phone and use the computer for extended periods may be required.
  • May involve exposure to moderate noise levels from printers, faxes, computers, etc.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment where applicable.
  • Subject to hazards including electrical current, moving mechanical parts, and exposure to chemicals.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push, pull and grasp.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to lift over 25 lbs. with assistance.
  • Ability to move arms, hands, and fingers.
  • Ability to sit or stand for sustained periods.
  • Required to have visual acuity to perform assigned tasks.
  • Ability to sit for sustained periods.
