Job Profile

The company is looking for a Manufacturing Quality Supervisor who will provide leadership and guidance on our ASME & ISO quality management systems.

Maintain ASME, ISO, and other manufacturing quality certifications for our Albuquerque New Mexico facility. The responsibilities will include managing manufacturing quality personnel, ensuring the manufacturing quality programs effectively reduce risk and minimize cost due to fabrication errors, promoting resolution of quality issues, ensuring our quality programs are appropriately audited, and performing inspections of weldments to support manufacturing and assembly operations.

Supervise the execution of the Quality Control Manual and processes, develop new Quality Control Processes as assigned, and ensure that required certifications are renewed for continued operations.

Educational Level

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of study with 7 or more years of related work experience; and or 10 years of quality control management system experience or manufacturing experience

Work Experience

  • 1+ years of experience managing direct reports
  • Advanced knowledge of welding inspection processes including NDE, visual (VT), liquid penetrant (PT), and radiographic (RT) inspections as well as ultrasonic (UT) inspection
  • Experience in petrochemical, nuclear, power generation, or aerospace manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems desired
  • Experience working in a dynamic research and development (R&D) environment
  • Familiar with ASME Section IX, Section VIII, and AWS code requirements
  • Large metal fabrication knowledge of ASME, API, NACE, and codes
  • NDT certifications are preferred but not necessary.
  • Qualified ISO 9001 Auditor or Lead Auditor certification desired
  • Required 3 years plus experience implementing a quality program in ISO 9001
  • Required 3 years plus experience implementing an ASME Section VIII, III, or I quality control program
  • Welding/inspection experience of austenitic stainless steels and other high alloyed steels

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and leads 3rd party inspectors (weld, authorized inspector, ISO, etc.)
  • Create, and maintain forms, records, and reports concerning ASME /National Board/ISO
  • Develop, manage, and maintain ASME Section VIII and ISO Quality Programs including periodic updates to QC manuals based on maturing processes or audit feedback.
  • Develops and maintains non-destructive testing (NDT) equipment, processes, and procedures.
  • Facilitate and define effective vessel and piping fabrication processes
  • Facilitate any electronic surveys or onsite audits concerning ASME/National Board/ISO
  • Hire, coach, manage career development, and assess the performance of team members
  • Interfaces effectively with peer organizations – Engineering, Supply Chain & Procurement, Manufacturing Production, and Operations, to achieve Company goals and objectives
  • Lead the site-specific ASME Section VIII and ISO quality control programs to maintain certifications for the facility
  • Manage and coordinate the Quality Management System/ISO internal audit system and schedule
  • Manage, coordinate, and oversee activities for supporting quality management control certifications such as ASME National Board
  • Oversee and process NCRs and communicate NCRs to appropriate personnel
  • Oversee systems and processes for tool calibration and records.
  • May also perform other related duties and responsibilities assigned.

Physical Requirements

  • Adjusting, moving, transporting, installing, positioning, or removing objects up to 50 pounds in all directions
  • Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, scissor lifts, articulated boom lifts, and the like
  • Communicating with others to exchange information
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
  • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces
  • Operating motor vehicles, heavy equipment, or machinery
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Repetitive assembly operations of manufacturing test fixtures and test setups in collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams
  • Setting up and transferring temporary structures (e.g. scaffolding, ladders)
  • Use hand tools
  • Vision abilities required: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to differentiate colors related to welding quality, and the ability to adjust focus
