Job Profile

The company is seeking a Manufacturing Supervisor to join its team.

Education Level

  • Associate’s Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field (preferred); or equivalent experience

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing supervisory role, preferably in machining, welding, and assembly environments.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Compliance: Ensure all manufacturing activities comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and company policies. Ensure that Factory Rules are being fairly administered and enforced.
  • Continuous Improvement: Implement and promote continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
  • Performance Management: Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and address any performance issues or disciplinary actions as necessary. Assist employees who are not meeting standards with coaching, solving problems, or eliminating downtime waste.
  • Process Management: Oversee machining, welding, and assembly processes, ensuring adherence to work instructions, quality standards, and safety regulations.
  • Production Targets: Monitor production metrics, such as output, efficiency, and quality, to ensure that production targets and deadlines are met.
  • Safety Enforcement: Enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment. Conduct safety training and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Schedule Management: Develop and maintain shift schedules, ensuring adequate staffing levels and addressing personnel issues during the shift. Move personnel to work centers/areas as needed based on demands or equipment restrictions. Communicate scheduling requirements or restrictions with the appropriate team members.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and coordinate the activities of production staff, including machinists, welders, and assemblers, ensuring effective and efficient operation.
  • Training: Provide training and development opportunities for production staff, including new hires and ongoing skill development.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve production issues, equipment malfunctions, and process bottlenecks to minimize downtime and maintain productivity. Work with maintenance on resolution.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing daily tasks accordingly.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Familiarity with engineered-to-order manufacturing environments and custom orders.
  • Familiarity with Union Environments is preferred
  • Knowledge of machining, welding, and assembly processes and equipment.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
