Job Profile
The company is searching for a Marine Welder who will join, fabricate, and assemble various assemblies by applying appropriate safety techniques and the work is performed on-board U.S. Naval Ships and military installations.
Also, plays a critical role in ensuring that successful and safe work is performed onboard U.S. Naval Ships and our Military installations, which is vital to our Mission to protect and serve our Military.
Education Level
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
Work Experience
- 5 years of experience as a Welder
- 5 years of experience (Shipboard Experience highly preferred)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Conduct various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement.
- Construct components, subunits, or simple models or adapt standard equipment.
- Gather and maintain specified records of engineering data such as tests and drawings.
- Perform computations by substituting numbers in specified formulas; plot data and draw simple curves and graphs.
- Perform recurring work independently which is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions including troubleshooting and correcting malfunctions.
- Select, set up, and operate standard test equipment and record test data.
- Perform tasks or tests such as tensile or hardness tests; operate and adjust simple test equipment and record test data.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- The ability to be able to obtain and gain access to shipyards (NAVSTA & DBIDS), undergo a background investigation, and pass a drug screening.
- The ability to obtain an OSHA certification
- Familiarity with NAVSEA, standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of electrical repair, fabrication, and installation.
- The ability to work in high heat spaces, climb shipyard dry dock stairs/ladders, work in a kneeling position for layout and fabrication of assemblies under false decking, and lift up to 50 pounds with 80% of work requiring carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 40 pounds for majority of shift while being in a standing, crouching, or walking position.
- Attention to safety is critical.
- Be able to get respirator qualified and wear proper PPE throughout their work shift.
- The ability and willingness to travel up to 25% to various work sites such as Virginia Beach, VA, Bremerton, WA, Everett, WA, San Diego, CA, Mayport, FL & Yokosuka Japan.
- The ability and willingness to work in Honolulu, HI.
Desired Qualifications
- An active DoD Secret Clearance
- An OSHA Certification
