Job Profile

The company is recruiting a Material Welding Engineer who will be responsible for leading engineering activities by performing, mentoring, assisting scheduling, and overseeing daily heat-treat activities in the manufacturing of Ferrous Engine/Transmission components.

Provide technical leadership analysis on heat-treat processes and equipment

Investigate and implement equipment and process efficiency improvements to optimize cycle time, production, and overall costs

Research, develop, test, and implement new technology where applicable

Continuous development, testing, and implementation of cost-down activities focusing on total cost (manpower, productivity, scrap, and reliability/repairs)

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering Technology, Material Science, or Welding Engineering (college/university)
  • Mechanical/Manufacturing Bachelor’s Degree with Materials Minor

Work Experience

  • Possess Co-op experience (preferred)

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Attend daily communication and planning meetings to prioritize team activity
  • Develop and implement equipment-related projects (budgets, specifications, equipment installation/start-up
  • Develop and present project/theme activity to the department and plant management
  • Engage in FSI/loss elimination theme development and implementation
  • Instruct and manage suppliers/contractors to achieve project goals
  • Lead, investigate, propose, and implement approved activities that reflect the Company direction for the business plan in the areas of Safety, Environmental, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Morale (SEQDCM)
  • Metallurgical analysis, heat treatment furnaces oversee, and advanced troubleshooting.
  • Provide leadership, support, and technical development of production staff and associates
  • Support daily line activities with hands-on troubleshooting and production involvement

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to solve complex problems through analysis to propose and implement appropriate countermeasures based on timing, quality, and cost
  • Demonstrate leadership capabilities such as strong communication skills (written and verbal) and problem-solving
  • Positive attitude, open-minded, and team player
  • Strong interest in manufacturing
  • Strong self-motivation and desire to work in a manufacturing environment

Work Environment

  • 2 to 10 hours OT per week with occasional weekend work required
  • General manufacturing work environment with heat treatment and Machining
  • Potential travel several times per year with a duration of 1 day to 2 weeks (domestically and internationally
  • The production floor includes exposure to machining chips, coolants, and oils on a daily basis
  • The work environment includes both office and production floor
