Job Profile
The company is hiring a Materials Manager who will be responsible for executing the materials plan through strategic supplier relationships and a team of direct reports to effectively plan and schedule to meet production demands.
Responsible for overseeing all daily procurement activities, cycle count program fulfillment, and ordering and receipt of shipments in compliance with all regulations.
Directly supervise raw materials planning, scheduling, purchasing, and receiving functions.
Education Level
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or other related discipline
Work Experience
- 5+ years of successful supervisory experience
License/Certification
- APICS certification (a plus)
Duties/Responsibilities
Planning/Scheduling-
- Effectively plan and schedule to meet production/customer demand
- Ensure all materials are available for successful execution on the shop floor
- Fulfill, monitor, and set safety stock levels to meet delivery targets and inventory reduction goals
- Oversee creation/distribution and maintenance of adequate work orders
- Oversee fulfillment/expediting of inter-company requirements
Purchasing-
- Establish and enforce procedures to ensure proper recording, storage, and tracking
- Maintain sufficient raw material stocking levels to protect production and customer schedules
- Oversee all daily procurement activities needed to fulfill production demand
- Oversee MRO/expense procurement
- Work with suppliers concerning forecasted needs/supply pipeline integrity
Inventory-
- Effective material disposition of obsolete and slow-moving material
- Plan and lead the execution of semi-annual physical inventory
- Responsible for control of all appropriate transactional integrity, procedures, and policies
- Responsible for cycle count program fulfillment
Logistics-
- Coordinate deliveries and cost-saving efforts
- Effective communication/scheduling of inbound with logistics providers
- Oversee ordering and receipt of shipments in compliance with all regulations
Receiving-
- Ensure all delivery receipts and put-away processes are being executed accurately and timely
- Ensure that all picking is completed and accurately entered
- Responsible for directing receiving personnel and functions
Supervisory/Managerial Roles-
- Collaborate and ensure alignment with the Director of Supply Chain for the TRMS corporate
- Collaborate with Customer Service and Planning/Scheduling to improve manufacturing flow
- Directly supervise raw materials planning, scheduling, purchasing, and receiving functions
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively and work well in a team-based environment
- Ability to read/interpret blueprints, drawings, or other technical material
- Dedicated to the pursuit of continuous improvement
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent leadership skills
- Highly organized and process-driven
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word, and Outlook
