Job Profile
The company is looking for a Mechanic who will be responsible for carrying out skilled journeyman-level work.
Work involves preventative and corrective maintenance, inspections, modifications, installations/dismantling of systems and projects within the trade, and troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairs of construction equipment.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants should have a High School Graduate (an asset)
- Truck and Coach Service License (310T) required or 421A
- A valid G license in good standing is required (a DZ license would be an asset)
Work Experience
- Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in equipment and vehicle maintenance and repairs
Duties/Responsibilities
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Able to perform services on electrical, hydraulic, power train, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
- Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
- Diagnosing electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic troubles.
- Ensure all Workplace Safety, Environmental and National Safety Code Policies and Regulations are being adhered to.
- Inspect and examine vehicles and equipment.
- Lubricate, service, diagnose, repair, assemble, and maintain vehicles and equipment.
- Maintain and service a fleet of Heavy Equipment for road construction.
- Maintain excellent customer relations.
- Making repairs as per the manufacturer’s specifications.
- Operate a hoist and lift device to position machinery parts in a safe manner.
- Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns.
- Performing hands-on maintenance and repairs of all equipment.
- Provides guidance and instruction to less experienced, or apprentice maintenance personnel.
- Read diagrams/schematics and manufacturers’ repair manuals for work procedures.
- Suggest positive changes to policy and procedures as required.
- Timely and accurate diagnosis and repair including computer connection/diagnosis with a machine to identify fault codes.
- Utilize computer electronic systems to interpret failure codes.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Effective interpersonal skills (spoken and written communication)
- Excellent mechanical knowledge
- Heavy lifting is required.
