Job Profile

The company is looking for a Mechanic who will primarily focus on a safe work environment and employ safe work practices on a consistent basis.

Performing a variety of mechanical applications with basic knowledge of cutting and welding.

Educational Qualification

  • The applicants may be required to have a High School Diploma

Work Experience

  • 3 years of practical mechanical experience with underground mining equipment or heavy industrial equipment.
  • 3 years of practical mechanical assembly with emphasis on bearing and seal installation, gearing mesh/backlash, and standard industrial tolerance fits.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Disassemble complete machines and mechanical components.
  • Ensure that quality standards and procedures are adhered to.
  • Follow established safety and environmental procedures.
  • Operate overhead and jib cranes.
  • Operate small and large, powered fork trucks.
  • Operate various air-powered hand tools.
  • Perform casual metal cutting process using standard torches for trimming and other superficial or cosmetic purposes.
  • Reassemble complete machines (continuous miners, shuttle cars, shearers, shields, face drives, etc.).
  • Reassemble small mechanical components as well as larger components such as cutter head gearcases and longwall gearboxes to perform causal welding processes in the assembly process of components and machines (tacks, threaded boss positioning, and other such welds not requiring structural integrity).
  • Re-hose hydraulic, dust suppression, fire suppression, and lubrication circuits on complete and partial machine rebuilds.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Basic operating skills in cutting torch processes.
  • Basic operating skills in MIG and Stick welding.
  • Certified operator, powered fork trucks.
  • Read, understand and assemble from factory blueprints, drawings, piping, and hosing diagrams.
  • Trained operator, overhead cranes.
  • Ability to read micrometers, dial gauges, and veneers.
  • Basic computer skills. Familiarity with ms windows operating system.
  • MSHA electrical certification in low, medium, and high voltage.
  • Practical and efficient troubleshooting skills for mechanical assemblies and hydraulic circuits.
  • Practical experience with joy mining equipment.
