Job Profile

The company is looking to hire a Mechanic JM who will be responsible for maintaining and repairing internal combustion engines and components in both stationary and mobile equipment.

A Welder JM will be involved in the fabrication and lining of bore components. This work may exist indoors or outdoors and may be physically demanding.

Educational Qualification

  • Must be an Alberta ticketed journeyman (or hold a journeyman certificate recognized by AIT)
  • Alberta B-Pressure Certificate and current PQRs may be required
  • CSTS-09 or CSTS-20
  • Current CWB All-position certification may be required

Work Experience

  • Possess 5+ years of experience with Caterpillar equipment
  • Must have experience with CAT pipelayers
  • Familiarity with pipeline equipment is an asset
  • Previous experience working on an industrial site is considered an asset, but not required
  • Standard First Aid

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems
  • Attend required safety and tailgate/toolbox meetings
  • Clean and check welds for defects
  • Comply with Company and Client Safety rules, as well as OH&S standards
  • Diagnose faults and malfunctions
  • Ensure repairs are carried out according to the manufacturer’s procedures in a safe and responsible manner within the designated timeframe
  • Interpret work orders and technical manuals
  • Join or sever metals in beams, vessels, piping, and other metal components
  • Keep equipment clean, lubricated, and maintained
  • Read and interpret blueprints to determine the requirements of the job
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure that the work done meets manufacturers’ specifications and legislated regulations
  • Train or assist other technicians or apprentices
  • Troubleshoot and communicate equipment performance with mechanics
  • Utilize different processes and fillers depending on the Client’s requirements
  • Write service reports in a timely and efficient manner
  • May perform other duties as assigned

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Able to think logically, problem solve and keep up with changing technology
  • Able to work well in a team environment
  • Familiar with parts and service manuals
  • Must be physically able to lift 50 lbs. and climb in/under units in the field
  • Organized and self-motivated
  • Pre-employment alcohol and drug testing is a condition of employment
