Job Profile

The company is looking for a Mechanical/Certified Welding Inspector who will promote quality awareness throughout the organization, emphasizing excellence, continuous improvement, and corrective action to influence the overall success of the company business.

Educational Level

  • High School or GED or Higher Education

Work Experience

  • 5 years of Mechanical/CWI Inspector experience (required)
  • API 1169 Certification (a plus)
  • Current CWI certification (required)

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Inspection personnel should also be familiar with Destructive Testing fundamentals, techniques, and applicability including groove welds, fillet welds, stud welds, and weldability testing.
  • This will be for pipeline mainline/maintenance inspections. Monitor the execution of welding work in progress to ensure that it complies with the applicable codes, standards, and specific job requirements.
  • Evaluate completed weldments for compliance with applicable codes, standards, and job requirements.
  • Perform inspections of applicable procedures and processes.
  • Conduct audits and surveillance of suppliers and organizations providing materials or services to the project.
  • Ensure the work performed and associated records are maintained and conform to the requirements of the applicable standards or other contract documents.
  • Inspection personnel should also be familiar with Destructive Testing fundamentals, techniques, and applicability including groove welds, fillet welds, stud welds, and weldability testing.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to work well with others, multi-task, and be oriented
  • Familiarity with email and Internet communication systems
  • Fluent in English (i.e. reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl
  • Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally. Preferably holds current certification in Swagelok and Parker tubing fitting installation (Will accept expired certification depending on experience
  • Must be able to reach in all directions
  • Must be able to stand for extended durations
  • Must be able to walk long distances
  • Must be able to work in various weather conditions including extreme heat and cold temperatures
  • Must be alert and able to determine job-related hazards and recognize when hazards change
  • Must have good visual acuity about color, depth perception, and field vision
