Job Profile
The company is searching for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician who will primarily be responsible for maintaining and repairing the production equipment.
Develop and implement the maintenance programs necessary to ensure the short-term and long-term reliability of the equipment, as well as lead the effort to optimize maintenance costs, maximize equipment availability and reduce unsafe conditions.
Educational Qualification
- High School Diploma or GED
Work Experience
- 3+ years of experience in an industrial maintenance position
Duties/Responsibilities
- Communicate professionally with plant personnel as to the important repair steps taken, parts ordered, and estimated time to complete the repairs or projects.
- Evaluate equipment malfunctions with a sense of urgency to minimize downtime.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, or replace mechanical components such as motors, reducers, drive chains, and hydraulic or pneumatic components in manufacturing equipment.
- Install or assist in the installation of new equipment, including proper layout and alignment.
- Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments, according to production specifications.
- Maintains proper housekeeping expectations for work area, equipment, and tools.
- Makes preventative maintenance checks and inspections as required and on time.
- Modify equipment as necessary to improve safety, quality, productivity, and reliability.
- Perform basic welding duties, fabricating fixtures, jigs, guarding, etc. as needed.
- Perform tasks in a quality fashion by meeting or exceeding the internal customers’ requirements.
- Performs routine, emergency, and preventive maintenance.
- Plan, implement, and maintain a preventative maintenance program on engines, motors, pumps, pneumatic tools, hydraulics, conveyor systems, and production machines in order to improve reliability.
- Study equipment manuals to develop audit items and preventative maintenance schedules.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to perform work instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form is a must. In addition, the ability to solve problems, which involve multiple variables in a standard situation, is required.
- Ability to explain complex mechanical issues.
- Ability to perform general mathematic calculations including but not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, percentages, and statistics. Some positions may require advanced mathematics.
- Ability to read and comprehend documents including but not limited to policy manuals, safety rules/programs, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and simple correspondence. In addition, the ability to communicate information effectively one-on-one, in small group situations and settings is required.
- Ability to read, interpret and understand blueprints, manuals, and assembly directions.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment, overhead crane, and rigging principles.
- Mechanical capability to repair or analyze production equipment.
- Must be able to perform physically demanding work, such as climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, twisting, and bending for extended periods of time.
- Reliability, dependability, and self-motivation.

Physical Demands
- Frequently required to stand; sit; bend; stoop; use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; lift; climb or balance for essential tasks.
- Frequently required to walk.
- Regularly required to talk or hear.
- Specific vision abilities include close-up and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Work Environment
- May be required to enter areas that are near moving mechanical parts, with occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals, and extreme cold or heat.
- The noise level in the work environment is considered moderate and may require the use of hearing protection.
- Be required to utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when accessing certain manufacturing areas.
Safety Responsibilities
- Required to read and understand the position’s Job Safety Analysis.
- Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and perform tasks in a manner consistent with NCI and Metal Coaters safety training, NCI Employee Manual, and OSHA regulations.
