Job Profile
The company is searching for a Mechanical Technician who will support the operation and maintenance of our natural gas pipelines and associated facilities throughout Crystal Falls and the surrounding area.
Education Level
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Work Experience
- Relevant oil and gas industry experience
- Instead of a strong mechanical background, a working understanding and experience in instrumentation and controls with a mechanical aptitude will be considered
License/Certification
- A strong background in instrumentation and controls is desirable
- Ability to acquire Michigan Boiler Licensure
Duties/Responsibilities
- Blow down, purge, and pressurize pipelines or stations
- Complete work orders, enter data into job plans, create new work orders, etc., in SAP
- Inspect, repair, and set regulators and relief valves
- Maintain and repair pipelines
- Operate and maintain valves and operators
- Operate compressor engines and support equipment
- Perform line locates on company pipelines or utility line patrols and associated ROW maintenance
- Plan, coordinate, and perform mechanical maintenance activities, to include routine corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, equipment and system improvements, and major maintenance projects
- Troubleshoot, operate, and maintain gas-fired turbine engines, gas compressors, standby generator engines, centrifugal and diaphragm pumps, low-pressure boilers, oil coolers, air compressors, large-bank cooler fans and gear boxes, large diameter valves and operators, and other auxiliary equipment
- Other tasks as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting turbine engines
- Experience working with Rolls-Royce industrial gas turbines
- Industrial experience in a plant environment
- Knowledge of internal combustion engines, centrifugal gas compressors, and standby generators
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of safety and maintenance procedures
- Skilled in diagnosing and repairing equipment
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and tools
Work Environment
- Be subject to working conditions which include adverse weather and temperatures, heavy lifting (50 pounds), and cramped conditions
- Driving a motor vehicle is an essential job function of this position. Following a conditional offer of employment, the Company will check the motor vehicle records of any job applicant when driving is an essential job function.
- Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training, which would involve some overnight stays away from home
