Job Profile
The company is searching for a Metal Fabrication Specialist who will perform welding and fabrication of metal alloys, maintain, repair, design, and modify equipment, and construct specialized devices, parts, and structures.
Be an excellent team player, must work closely and often side by side with 3rd party laborers, customers, contractors, local engineers, and project managers.
Phenomenal attendance is required for this position.
The position will report to the Metal Fabrication Lead.
Education Level
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (required)
- Vocational/Technical, U.S. Armed Forces, apprenticeship, or on-the-job training desired.
Work Experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years professional experience
- MIG Welding certification is required. TIG and ARC welding experience (a plus)
- A Valid Driver’s License is required.
- Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures.
- Familiar with reading and understanding shop drawings or sketches; knowledge of and experience in MGAW (MIG), TIG welding including spool gun; fitter, and use of hand and power tools.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assess welded surfaces, structures, and components to identify errors.
- Build up worn or defective surfaces.
- Follow and enforce safety and OSHA regulations such as wearing heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, and safety shoes.
- Follow, create, and help maintain Welding Procedure Specifications.
- Inspect welds to ensure quality standards and specifications are met.
- Operate machinery used in the production process.
- Read and interpret sketches, shop drawings, work orders, and specifications in addition to following verbal instructions.
- Set up welding machines based on the job at hand using a Welding Procedure Specification.
- Utilize hand tools, tape measure, fixtures, jigs, and clamps for welding jobs.
- Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
- Willing to work in other areas of production as needed.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to lift heavy items up to 50-75 pounds consistently required.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work efficiently to meet commitments.
- Ability to read and interpret documents furnished in written, oral, and diagram form such as safety rules, and operating and maintenance instructions.
- Anticipate work needs and follow through with minimum direction.
- Collaborate with internal and external customers at various levels of the organization.
- Driven, accountable, innovative, and a self-starter.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs and uses.
- Superior communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Work independently and within a team.
