Job Profile

The company is seeking a Metal Structures Technician who will utilize predetermined setups and operating methods, adjust and simultaneously operate a variety of numerically controlled or conventional equipment capable of performing various functions such as, but not limited to, forming, bonding, welding, machining, drilling, cutting, robotic and otherwise automated or manual assembly.

Perform all tasks involved in the preparation, set up, and operation of thermal processing tools and equipment.

Perform all tasks involved in the preparation of Super Plastic Forming (SPF) dies and SPF blanks for forming operations

Education Level

  • High School Graduate or GED (preferred)

Work Experience

  • 1+ years of experience using hand tools or hand-held power tools.
  • 1+ years of experience using precision measuring tools and equipment such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, etc.
  • 1+ years of experience working with detailed work instructions or reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings
  • Must have basic Computer experience

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain job files, set up data, and backup data in support of all operations. Work with and interpret standard work instructions, charts, tables, blueprints, formulas, sketches, verbal and electronic orders, job layouts, etc., to accomplish assigned work.
  • Cut and check to quality specifications anything the cutting equipment is or may be adapted to produce.
  • Diagnose and correct malfunctions occurring in the machining or assembly process.
  • Do routine preventative work to maintain and ensure the cleanliness of equipment. Detect faulty tools and equipment, and take corrective action under shop practices and procedures.
  • Ensure that all equipment is used under established safety and operating procedures.
  • Make preparations and adjustments as required ensuring proper machine operation.
  • Operate riding-type electric-powered elevating equipment to accomplish work assignments. Maintain necessary certifications, licenses, and permits as required for assigned work. Coordinate certification requirements of equipment.
  • Perform necessary riveting, assembly, or subassembly, including bonding and sealing as required.
  • Perform product finishing processes as necessary such as, but not limited to, scraping, spot facing, counterboring, trimming, lapping, honing, grinding, sandblasting, scotch brite, cleaning, and deburring.
  • Perform rework or reforming of parts as required which may require usage of equipment where pre-determined setups are not provided.
  • Set automated or mechanized welding machine to prescribed certification setting and make any test samples to ensure that the welding machine is operating within certification limits.
  • Use any precision measuring instruments, gauges, tools, etc., necessary to check machine readiness and to check completed parts for finish, dimensions, and conformance to quality requirements.
  • Within the cell, perform all tasks involved in the coordination, preparation, and movement of material and tools.
  • Work with Engineering, Planning, research engineers, etc. to originate and develop new procedures, techniques, and production aids to facilitate equipment operations and to support the design and implementation of new products.
