Job Profile

The company is searching for a Metallurgical Engineer who will be responsible for product engineering, resolving metallurgical issues, dealing with quality and production issues that arise, and developing improvements to existing processes.

Interact with customers from time to time but will mainly be focused on understanding and working with engineering specifications and process improvements.

Quickly grasp production processes and business culture and possess a continuous improvement mindset.

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (i.e., Metallurgical, Industrial, or Production) from a college/university

Work Experience

  • Demonstrated Experience with manufacturing processes such as powder processing, sintering, melting (electron beam, inert-gas arc, and vacuum arc remelt), heat treating, cleaning, machining, joining (laser, electron beam, resistance welding), and inspecting (dimensional, ultrasonic, visual, metallographic), characterization, testing, and analytical techniques associated with fabricating refractory and high-temperature metals and alloys

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Application of ARM new make manufacturing and repair service operations processes and material flow to shop floor operations, both part specific and overall, in support of operations Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Responsiveness (QCDR) key performance indicators.
  • ARM facility capabilities, capacity, and effective resource utilization matched the business demands.
  • Assess and specify machine tools for both planned and existing manufactured and repaired components.
  • Create and execute tactical plans in support of the operation’s strategy and the overall evolution of the operation.
  • Define, monitor, and control manufacturing and repair processes.
  • Ensure materials/components are produced to design requirements (drawing, specifications, and procedures)
  • Health, safety, and environmental (HS&E) regulatory and policy compliance.
  • Identify process variations and develop new efficient methods for manufacture and/or repair.
  • Interact well with craft supervisors/personnel for equipment/system repairs and compliance with E, S, H, and Q requirements to ensure the integrity of activities.
  • Lead and supervise materials processing operations and research involving powder processing, sintering, diffusion bonding, forming, heat treating (air, inert, and vacuum), machining (turning, milling, grinding, electrical discharge, and sawing), cleaning, assembly, welding (laser, electron beam, and resistance), inspecting (dimensional, ultrasonic, visual, metallographic, etc.) as well as melting (electron beam, inert-gas arc, and vacuum arc remelt), casting, extrusion, rolling, and forging
  • Maintain equipment, facilities, and systems in compliance with environment, safety, health, and quality (E, S, H, and Q) requirements
  • Maintain, develop, and optimize process procedures for establishing new, or modified materials/components
  • Participate in the development of the operation’s strategy for new make and repair components.
  • Perform and report statistical trend analyses of critical product attributes
  • Schedule, budget, and control costs for production activities
  • Supervise or coordinate training and certification of production personnel
  • Track training and production certification for production personnel

Desired Qualifications

  • MS or 2 years of experience (preferred)
  • Digital and traditional dimensional inspection methods (a plus)
  • Effective organizational, analytical, interpersonal, written, and oral skills
  • Knowledge of mechanical equipment, mechanical design, or instrumentation and controls
  • Technical competence including understanding software, hardware, networks, etc.
  • Understanding the functions and critical to quality (CTQs) characteristics of gas turbine components is preferred.

  • Need to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
