Job Profile
The company is recruiting a MIG Welder I to join its team.
Education Level
- High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred)
Work Experience
- Relevant apprenticeship, experience, or vocational training (preferred)
- Must pass a MIG welder certification.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Familiar with and complies with all safety requirements and protocols.
- Inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness.
- Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to determine the appropriate welding process.
- Joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable materials by applying appropriate welding techniques.
- May be required to complete an apprenticeship or formal training in an area of specialty.
- May prepare the materials and set up a welding device or robot.
- Support the safety and quality programs by following all accompanying rules and established processes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to convert fractions to decimals and vice versa.
- Ability to convert metric to English.
- Ability to operate forklifts and cranes.
- Ability to read and interpret simple blueprints.
- Ability to use a variety of hand tools such as hammers, pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, drills, grinder, and bander.
- Ability to use measuring tools such as tape measure, box caliper, slide dial caliper, and micrometer.
- Capable of setting up and operating one or more processing machines.
- Provide high-quality work to all internal and external customers as related to the output of their position.
- Speak, write, and comprehend conversational English.
- Strong attention to detail.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to bend, sit, stand, twist, and stoop for long periods.
- Ability to lift 20-50 lbs. repetitively throughout a shift.
- Ability to maintain coordination of hand and finger movements to grasp and manipulate objects with precision.
- Ability to walk 2-5 miles throughout a shift.
- Have a good vision of 20/30 with corrective lenses.
Environmental Conditions
- Atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin- fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
- Hazards: Variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, exposure to high heat, or exposure to chemicals.
- Oils: There is air or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
