Job Profile

The company is seeking a Mill Operator who will operate a spiral mill, count and mark lengths of pipe, splices coil, and complete proper documentation under ongoing supervision.  Trains other mill operators on special mill techniques or procedures.

Education Level

  • High School Diploma or GED; or 1-year certificate from College or Technical School; or 3 to 6 months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Possess work-related experience

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Break down coils.
  • Complies with all OSHA safety requirements, work rules, and regulations.
  • Effectively communicates issues to management
  • Ensures general housekeeping and safety.
  • Follow all safety and company policies/procedures and promote a safe culture.
  • Follow all work instructions, procedures, and job safety (JSA’s)
  • Grinds welds and end finish.
  • Maintain housekeeping within all production, storage, and waste areas.
  • Marks pipe.
  • Moves pipe with overhead crane.
  • Operates mill.
  • Performs cleaning and grinding as required
  • Performs ISO procedures.
  • Performs some preventive maintenance.
  • Properly identify (mark) pipe with the use of spray paint
  • Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
  • Sets up equipment.
  • Wear all the required personal protective equipment.
  • Weld and splice pipes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the lead or supervisor.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment including but not limited to measuring tape and 100th-diameter tape
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
