Job Profile

The company (ThyssenKrupp Polysius North America) is hiring a Millwright who will be responsible for performing heavy mechanical work such as inspection, disassembly, assembly, and new installation of heavy industrial equipment and components mainly at cement production facilities. The machineries include, but are not limited to kilns, raw- and finish mills, material handling, and processing equipment.

Required to follow instructions from the Field Supervisor and positively integrate and contribute within the Field Service crew.

Education Level

Work Experience

  • 1 year of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience as a Maintenance Technician journeyman in the construction of heavy industrial equipment, cement and mining, petrochemical, power generation, or similar construction.
  • An equivalent combination of education, supervisory experience, and related construction experience (may be considered)

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ability to follow instructions of the Superintendent/Supervisor and work with others in a team environment.
  • Assists with tool trailer and warehouse organization.
  • Bolt, weld, and cut material as needed Load, transport, and unload material, tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Bring problems to the attention of the Superintendent/Supervisor or Safety Manager.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to safety.
  • Follow Daily work Procedures and Protocols as outlined in job orientations and trainings and Safety Handbooks.
  • Inspection, disassembly, and assembly of heavy industrial equipment and components.
  • Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together in various body positions and assists in lifting, positioning, and securing materials and workpieces.
  • Perform all duties in a safe manner utilizing all required PPE, being constantly aware of others in the work area.
  • Performs maintenance or cleaning activities of tools and equipment.
  • Properly follow all industry-related MSHA/OSHA/ThyssenKrupp Polysius North America, Inc. safety procedures.
  • Signals crane operator in the setting of machine parts and equipment during assembly and disassembly.
  • Use basic rigging knowledge to set up hoisting for removal and installation of machine components.
  • Use hoists, pulleys, jacks, and come-a-longs to perform tasks.
  • Using overhead or jib cranes, forklifts, man-lifts, pneumatic tools, hydraulic tools, hand tools, and torches as required.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment screening and an ongoing drug screening is required.
  • Ability to work independently, anticipate, and plan work following established schedules and procedures.
  • Able to use hand, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools.
  • Familiarity with basic hand signals and basic rigging knowledge including safe working load limits.
  • Hands-on and proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Must know basic bolting, welding, and flame-cutting
  • Operating knowledge of hoists, pulleys, jacks, and come-a-longs.
  • Punctual and can manage time independently with minimal supervision.
  • Quality mindset.
  • Safety conscious; contributing to a safe working environment for oneself and all others.

Additional Qualifications

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move 50 lbs.
  • Industrial Equipment (forklift, man-lift, scissor lift, Telehandler, etc.) operator a plus.
  • MSHA trained and knowledgeable of MSHA/OSHA regulations.

Travel Demands

  • Requires extensive travel throughout the United States.
  • Regularly required to be away from home for several weeks at a time.
  • Ability to travel and work overtime (including nights, weekends, and holidays along with working outdoors in all weather conditions).
  • A valid US Driver’s license is required.
  • Valid Passport Optional.
