Job Profile
The company is hiring a Multi-Torch Burner who will operate various pieces of equipment to cut–re-determined sixes and shafts of steel using CNC plasma cutting machinery, magnetic cranes, forklifts, etc.
Education Level
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Work Experience
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a heavy manufacturing environment is desired or graduation from an accredited trade school with one year of experience.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Able to work timely and expeditiously to deliver an on-time product without manufacturing errors.
- Actively participate in department safety, and demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors that conform to all Valmont safety policies and procedures.
- Responsible for keeping the machine clean and doing operator preventative maintenance as needed.
- Sets the multi-torch cutting machinery using Valmont’s blueprints and selecting the correct type and gauge of steel. Follows blueprints, layouts, templates, and work orders to obtain various shapes, designs, contours, and dimensions.
- Working from the direction of the supervisor, the job requires the cutting of pole trapezoids and or parts by using a magnetic crane and multi-torch plasma cutting machine and cutting table.
- Performs other duties as directed by leaders and management.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- A thorough knowledge of welding procedures and practices is essential to ensure the quality of the product. This will include the ability to calculate formulas using basic mathematics, standard U.S., and Metric Measurements.
- Ability to operate overhead cranes
- Ability to program and re-set the CNC cutting machinery, troubleshoot operating malfunctions, and be well versed in operator’s maintenance of the equipment.
- Able to express equipment, parts, or procedural problems to the lead person and the supervisor. The incumbent should know how to complete required reports and enter the appropriate date with accuracy.
- At the end of 90 Calendar days, the candidate must be able to maintain an acceptable level of production, quality, and attendance as determined by Management.
- Knowledgeable of Valmont’s quality procedures, standards, and practices and will be aware of Valmont’s environmental policies.
