Job Profile
The company is recruiting a Non-Destructive Evaluation Engineer who will help to coordinate and execute project tasks.
Education Level
- BS Welding Engineering, Metallurgical or Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, or similar disciplines within engineering
Work Experience
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a technical role related to NDE
- Experience with the introduction of new advanced NDE and quality measurement technical ideas or technologies that have led to industrial applications
Duties/Responsibilities
- Actively seek out various educational and training opportunities to keep current and demonstrate continuous growth
- Develop strong working relationships with EWI’s customers to ensure satisfaction and develop new project opportunities
- Effectively delivers oral presentations meant to inform or persuade both internal (peer and manager) and external (client) audiences
- Engage with customers to explore and understand their NDE requirements
- Follow up and interact with customers on reactive sales transactions. Initiate the reactive sales process without guidance
- Identifies and analyzes problems, gathers and sorts relevant data, and processes logically to determine preferred solution; applies knowledge and experience to the pursuit and execution of results that solve problems for the client
- Interact with customers via the “inquiry” process to explore sales opportunities
- Lead research programs by collaborating with project managers, technicians, and engineers across other disciplines in the organization
- Offer input on the focus of EWI’s IRD funding and may develop proposals that require approval
- Understanding of NDE methods and experience with NDE equipment, software, and hardware
- Write clear, concise, and accurate technical project reports, presentations, or other documents for customers or internal audience
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to act as a seasoned, experienced professional with an understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures
- Ability to multi-task and work autonomously while managing numerous priorities and associated schedule demands
- Applied knowledge of non-contact measurement methods and metrology
- ASNT Certified in one or more NDE methods
- Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility
- Established technical expertise in NDE processes such as RT, UT, ECT, IR, PT, MT, and VT
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Exhibits sound judgment in decision-making and execution
- Proficient with automated inspection systems
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software
- Proven ability to foster relationships with current and new clients
- Proven success in a team-oriented environment
- Skillful in publishing, developing, and delivering presentations
- The solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to provide recommendations on issues
- Strong interpersonal skills supporting collaboration, negotiation, and teamwork with a diverse group of sales, marketing, engineering, and various other proposal personnel
- Willingness to travel periodically (10-15%) to customers and conferences
Physical Requirements
- Frequently move, transport, rotate, reach, pull, twist, adjust position, push, stand, stoop, bend and crouch
- Lift ten to 20 pounds frequently and 40 to 80 pounds occasionally
- Office environment and laboratory/light production floor with ventilation, climate-control system, moderate lighting, and moderate noise level
- Use finger and hand dexterity to type, adjust, move, handle, perform, operate, install, attach, remove, apply, grasp, grip, manipulate, and measure
- Use vision to see, analyze, and adjust
