Job Profile

The company is searching for an Operator I who will be responsible for operating a variety of machinery such as saws, presses, and drills to fabricate railcar parts to meet close and complex tolerances.

Education Level

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Work Experience

  • 6+ months of experience operating various types of manufacturing equipment and machinery
  • 1+ years of experience in operating various types of manufacturing equipment and machinery (preferred)

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Adjusts parts to ensure quality requirements are met.
  • Assembles and grinds products such as carbon and stainless steel, or aluminum, using grinders, tables, or conveyor systems.
  • Conducts regular inspections of parts produced through measurements.
  • Monitors output and proper operation of mechanical equipment.
  • Reads drawings and follows production standards.
  • Uses common measuring equipment such as tape measures.
  • Uses hand tools such as wrenches, electric tools, and ratchets.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to operate a computer to run reports, send and receive communication, etc.
  • Ability to work in a team or independently
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and work instructions

Work Environment

  • This position is in a production environment with exposure to heat, cold, noise, moving machinery, and trip hazards where personal protective equipment such as head, eye, hearing, and foot protection, including composite-toed safety shoes, are required.
  • This position may be exposed to welding, machining, forming, metal surface treatment, laser cutting, plasma cutting, and other metal working and assembly processes.
  • Additional PPE may be required as determined by the environment.
