Job Profile

The company is searching for a Pipe Welder who will join, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable materials by applying appropriate welding techniques and operating various welding devices.

Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to determine the appropriate welding process.

Inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness.

Familiar with and complies with all safety requirements and protocols for working in a hazardous environment.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants should have completed High School or GED

Work Experience

  • Possess 5 to 10 years of experience in welding within a manufacturing environment
  • ARC welding certified
  • ASME welder certified (preferred)
  • Lifting of up to 50 pounds (required)
  • Knowledge of MIG and TIG welding
  • The refinery, high-pressure oil and gas piping experience (a plus)

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Cut metal with plasma cutters or torches
  • Layouts, cuts, and fits materials for welding
  • Perform structural, socket, and butt welding for the fabrication of turbo-expander skids
  • Pipefitting experience
  • Selects proper welding heat and proper type and size of electrodes for correct penetration and strength of welded metals
  • Tack-weld or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment
  • Use forklift as necessary
  • Weld piping with 100% penetration (x-ray quality)
  • Welds up to 2-inch-thick stainless steel and carbon steel material

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Able to lead a small team (supervisory experience a plus)
  • Standing for extended periods of time is common.
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints

Work Environment

  • Regularly required to stand, walk or balance use hands and fingers to type, handle, feel, grasp, push, and pull, talk, and hear, and welding gear and a respirator.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and repetitive motion.
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Subject to an office environment and an uncontrolled manufacturing shop with environmental conditions, which could expose the associated heat and cold weather, noise, and oils as well as subjected to hazards such as but not limited to, moving parts and vehicles, heat and chemicals, and electrical current.
