Job Profile

The company is searching for a Pipefitter who will be responsible for preventative maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of refinery equipment, piping, valves, and tubing.

Work in a maintenance team and report to the Maintenance Area Supervisor.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED
  • 18 or more years of age

Work Experience

  • Possess 3 years of experience in a refinery or chemical plant environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in the pipe fabrication
  • 5 years of experience in a refinery or chemical plant environment

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ability to maintain your face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (some examples include being free of facial hair or clean shaven
  • Ability to use power and hand tools, such as saws, pipe threading machines, chain hoists, impact wrenches, torque wrenches, grinders, and drills
  • Always work safely and adopt company core values around safe work and behaviors
  • Climb, bend, lift, and perform a wide range of physical activities
  • Communicate orally and in writing with other team members, leaders, and operations personnel
  • Install and remove blinds
  • Install flanged and screwed piping and associated valves
  • Learn and follow Phillips 66 policies and procedures
  • Learn, observe, and follow safe work practices
  • Pass all qualification tests, both written and practical, as administered by the Sweeny Refinery training team
  • Respond to callouts for after-hours work
  • Responsible for setting up the work site with barriers or signs, flags rigging equipment, assisting welders and accurately interpreting drawings, sketches, and job orders
  • Routinely listen and follow instructions
  • Use a variety of safety and personal protective equipment
  • Work at various heights
  • Work out of craft and with other crafts as needs dictate
  • Work overtime, shift work, and weekends as required

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to work outside in an oil refinery environment; enter and work in confined spaces; climb ladders and towers, and wear Personal Protective Equipment including fall protection and respiratory protection
  • Able to carry out work direction in the direction in a safe manner
  • Able to operate motor vehicles
  • Climb and retrieve parts or make repairs from various heights
  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country on a regular full-time basis without restrictions
  • Lift and transport up to 60 pounds
  • Valid Texas driver’s license
