Job Profile
The company is looking for a Pipefitter Foreman who will supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in fabricating, assembling, installing, and maintaining piping, fixtures, and equipment for gas, steam, hot water, fire sprinkler systems, or oil heating, cooling, lubricating, and industrial processing systems.
The amount of specific job training required to learn the techniques, information, and facility needed for average performance in this position is from 4 to 10 years.
Education Level

License/Certification
- NCCER Foreman certification (preferred)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assigns workers to specific duties.
- Inspects completed processing systems to determine conformance to specifications.
- May supervise workers engaged in maintenance and repair work, and be designated Pipe-Fitter Supervisor, Maintenance; Steam-Fitter Supervisor, Maintenance.
- May supervise workers engaged in working in high-pressure systems, and be designated Steam-Fitter Supervisor.
- Performs duties as described under the Supervisor.
- Trains new workers in the use of equipment and tools.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Intellectually the worker must be able to apply and interpret principles of rational systems (bookkeeping, engines, electronics, building), to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; must be competent in beginning algebra and geometry and should be skilled in the computation of discount, interest, profit and loss; commission, markup, and selling price; ratio, proportion; and percentage.
- Must be able to read safety rules, instructions in the use and maintenance of shop tools and equipment, and methods and procedures in mechanical drawing and layout work.
- Must be able to write reports and letters with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar.
- Must be able to speak, using correct English before an audience with poise, voice control, and confidence.
Work Environment
- Physically, the worker must be capable of exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical activity requirements are more than those for Light Work.
