The company is searching for a Pipefitter/Plumber to join its team.
Education Level
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) – required
Work Experience
- 5 years of experience in an industrial environment working as a Pipefitter or Industrial Plumber.
- Experience and working knowledge of ANSI, ASME, and PFI codes and standards. Knowledgeable of various types of maintenance and repairs associated with commercial gas, steam, oil, water, air, waste treatment, and sanitary piping systems.
- Experience with preventive maintenance at defined intervals on mechanical equipment. Experience with computerized maintenance management systems. Thorough understanding of piping systems. Experience using cutting torches, saws, threading machines, and cutting machines. Experience welding or joining pipe and fittings together by means of threaded, brazed, or soldered joints. Prior experience working as a qualified Journeyman. Completion of a pipefitter apprenticeship program.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assembles pipe sections, tubing, and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing, and welding equipment.
- Directs workers engaged in pipe cutting and pre-assembly and repair of plumbing systems and components.
- Hangs steel supports from ceiling joists to hold pipes in place.
- Must have the ability to work 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift as required in the collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
- Plans the sequence of operations and materials according to design, specifications, and materials.
- Provide mechanical support to manufacturing operations to locate and diagnose trouble in mechanical piping systems and or equipment.
- Reads and interprets technical manuals and prints to determine proper work procedures.
- Responsible for the layout, assembly, maintenance, and repair of commercial high- and low-pressure water, gas, steam, oil, and air, waste treatment, sanitary, and chemical carrying piping systems.
- Uses computerized maintenance management systems. Performs complex calculations and planning.
- Works both independently and in a team environment. Repairs faulty components.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, manufacturers’ manuals, sketches, or similar documents.
- Ability to use hacksaws, benders, pipe cutters, pipe threaders, chisels, cutting torches, soldering irons, drill, taps, and related hand and power tools.
- Capability to repair, replace, and maintain defective piping and plumbing components such as valves, traps, toilets, showers, and drinking fountains using hand and power tools.
- Due to facility requirements, all candidates must be U.S. citizens.
- Familiarity with assembling and installing pipe and plumbing fittings using clamps, brackets, hangers, wrenches, pliers, and related hand tools.
- Knowledgeable of various types and sizes of piping and related metallic, vitreous, and plastic materials.
- Must have the ability to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
- Proficient in reading blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications.
