Job Profile

The company is hiring a Pipefitter/Welder/Exchanger Mechanic to join its team.

The position will report to the Maintenance Foreman.

Educational Level

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED

Work Experience

  • Must have completion of a recognized Pipefitter or Boilermaker apprenticeship program or 2 years of verifiable journeyman-level pipefitter/boilermaker work experience.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Able to field-measure and draw isometric sketches for piping layout and fabrication.
  • Able to read and understand schematics and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Able to work as a team and collaborate to accomplish work efficiently and to high-quality standards.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and reporting on work being performed.
  • Ensure all work is performed in a safe and environmentally compliant manner, adhering to site Health and Safety processes and Environmental regulations.
  • Ensure that equipment is safely prepared for Maintenance and all documents are in order before starting work.
  • Expected to train on Exchanger craft, including knowledge of exchanger types, exchanger-specific tooling and procedures, and rigging and pulling exchanger bundles.
  • Expected to train in Welding craft, including knowledge of filler metals and electrodes, welding preparation, types of welding, and NDE testing methods.
  • Perform work per applicable technical standards and specifications (Marathon, Industry, or Manufacturer).
  • Responsible for safely operating various types of mobile equipment, including forklifts, fixed cab cranes, and aerial lifts.
  • Use of various tools and equipment to assemble/disassemble flanges, blind/de-blind equipment, demo/install piping, pull/replace valves, clean/repair heater burners, pull and clean filters/screens, torque/tension joints, make-up/fabricate tubing and threaded piping, and perform hydrostatic testing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Work experience in a refining, petrochemical, or other related industry (preferred)
  • Direct experience with Pipefitter/Boil maker role
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and SAP (preferred)
  • Heat exchanger knowledge/experience (preferred, but not required)
  • Welding knowledge/experience (preferred, but not required)

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Must be able to support irregular or extended work hours and call-out situations when needed.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the facility and be able to physically perform all tasks in the field.
  • Must be knowledgeable on the use of tools/equipment of the trade and general rigging methods.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
