Job Profile

The company is looking for a Piping Foreman who will supervise, coordinate, inspect, and perform the assembly, installation, and repair of components, subsystems, and systems for the appropriate trade (piping) during the construction, and tenant finish-out or remodel of commercial buildings and industrial facilities.

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in the fabricating, assembling, installing, and maintaining piping, fixtures, and equipment for distribution of supply water (both potable and process), gas, steam, and other fluids and gases as well as waste disposal systems for commercial and industrial applications.

The position will report to the Trade Manager or, in his absence, directly to the CES Project Manager.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Be a graduate of a post-secondary program of instruction of two or more years in duration or completion of an apprenticeship program or similar training program and appropriate work experience is preferred.

Work Experience

  • Possess 5+ years of successful and full-time installation experience in the trade

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assist in training of new CES employees on installation-related subjects.
  • Conduct non-installation work in support of the Fabrication Shop and Service Departments, assigned.
  • Conform to all applicable CES Policies and Procedures.
  • Coordinates placement and storage of materials, tools, and supplies to support the construction plan.
  • Eliminates construction and job site hazards as they are recognized to reduce safety incidents and their severity.
  • Enforce company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations.
  • Establish and adjust work sequences to meet construction schedule, using knowledge of capacities of equipment and assigned personnel.
  • Estimates cost for change orders. As required, works with tools to meet construction schedules or other demands.
  • Inspect work in progress and complete work to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders as needed for the area of supervision.
  • Maintain employee field records and evaluate the work performance of assigned personnel.
  • Operates and supervises the operation of equipment and machinery such as backhoes, forklifts, and power tools. Inspects work in progress and completed work to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Participates in job planning, site set-up, and construction schedules. Estimates worker hourly requirements to meet the needs of the construction plan.
  • Perform routine installation activities without direct oversight or on-site assistance.
  • Prepares material take-offs, layout appropriate systems, and makes sketches from blueprints, specifications, submittals, and job orders.
  • Report workers’ compensation injuries to Safety Director and Human Resources immediately.
  • Schedules and coordinates activities of assigned craft workers while communicating and coordinating schedules with other trades.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of assigned trade workers.
  • Trains and supervises workers on company policies, safety practices, regulations, and installation procedures.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Demonstrate an interest and initiative in maintaining his/her trade skills through a combination of self-study, company training, manufacturers’ workshops, and other professional development activities.
  • Have good oral and reading skills, including the ability to read and apply the project plans and specifications, and the manufacturers’ installation instructions and clearly communicate with customers, suppliers, other CES employees, and other trades.
  • Have the ability to direct, organize and supervise work efficiently given time pressures, non-standard schedule, extreme weather conditions indicative of job site location, varying customer needs, and demands, and backlog constraints. Have the ability to accurately evaluate and document the skills and abilities of assigned personnel.
  • Make decisions based on measurable criteria.
  • Must not have fear of heights (acrophobia).
  • Possess a mechanical aptitude.
  • Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings.
  • Work within industry standards of accuracy.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Incumbent must be insurable at all times by CES insurance carrier
  • A valid Florida Driver’s License is required

Work Environment

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Must be able to perform all duties noted under the conditions, circumstances, and extreme weather found.

  • Physically, workers must be able to perform all duties under the conditions, circumstances, and extreme weather conditions indicative of the job site location.
  • Climb and maintain balance on ladders, lifts, and scaffolds.
  • Regularly required to talk, hear and use hands to finger, handle or feel.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Frequently lift/move up to 60 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Local and occasional out-of-town travel within Florida is required.
