Job Profile
The company is hiring a Plant Manager who will be responsible for the overall day-to-day operation, leadership, and management of a manufacturing plant.
Reports to the Vice President of Operations and regularly reports on plant performance.
Education Level
- College Degree in Engineering or Business (typically required)
Work Experience
- Minimum 10 years of plant management level experience in high volume, fast-paced manufacturing and operations
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assess and manage salaried staff and hourly employees within the plant
- Capital planning and implementation
- Continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and management methods to generate improved plant performance and workflow optimization, and efficiencies
- Ensure product quality and customer satisfaction with order fulfillment
- Overall budget, spending, and headcount
- Prioritize Employee Safety and Safety Compliance
- Responsible for inventory and materials management
- Responsible for plant engineering and maintenance (equipment and facilities)
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to effectively set and communicate expectations and directives to manufacturing staff.
- Ability to successfully work to reach company goals in an environment in which a wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.
- Demonstrated presentation skills, as this role will be interfacing with executive-level management, along with large customers.
- Knowledge of production processes, raw materials, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Results-driven, analytical, self-motivated, and detail-oriented with the ability to logically identify alternative solutions or approaches to complex problems.
- Track record of excellent judgment and decision-making ability.
- Well-rounded operations management experience including a deep understanding and experience with operations tactics, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, strategies and best practices, and process discipline.
Work Environment
- Exposed to machinery noise, heat, or chemical fumes
- May work long hours, including weekends or on-call shifts
- Must oversee safety and ensure compliance with regulations
- Primarily works in manufacturing or industrial plant environments
- Splits time between office settings and production floors
