Job Profile

The company (Nalco) is recruiting a Plant Process Operator/Maintenance who will be responsible for overall safety, the direction of all activities concerned with economical resin regeneration, product production, preventative maintenance, as well as leadership of continuous improvement.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants may be required a High School Diploma or GED

Work Experience

  • Possess 4 years of experience in an industrial maintenance environment
  • 2 years of experience with electronic and PLC-based applications in an industrial environment.
  • 4 years of experience with electrical and mechanical systems in an industrial environment
  • 4 years of experience with tools, procedures, and methods utilized in an industrial maintenance environment.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively, follow oral and written directions, and work effectively with co−workers and supervisors
  • Ability to wear and use protective gear as regulated by PA/OSHA and Nalco Water, including respiratory protection, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, chemical-resistant gloves, and coveralls. Required to respond in an on−call status for critical plant repairs during off-shift hours.
  • Assist with supervising outside contractors to perform regular and non-regular work.
  • Conducts safety inspections on plant equipment.
  • Evaluates the cost−effectiveness of repair versus replacement. Differentiate between unserviceable parts and components that can be reused without the likelihood of premature failure.
  • Implements and maintains the plant’s preventive maintenance program.
  • Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include heavy lifting and standing for extended periods of time.
  • Maintains accurate maintenance and repair records.
  • Maintenance of pumps, motors, piping, and control systems found in deionizer regeneration plants and related facilities, mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic principles, operation of deionizer regeneration plant processes, and safe work practices.
  • Manage cleanliness and housekeeping throughout the plant.
  • Monitor computer-based automatic or semi-automatic regeneration processes, gauges, temperatures, chemical concentrations, flow rates, and other instrumentation.
  • Other physically demanding activities are to be performed at the plant site.
  • Performing other administrative-related duties as required.
  • Performs a variety of preventative maintenance on equipment and facilities including corrosion control, cleaning, adjusting, lubricating, painting, and calibration, on equipment and structures, including pumps, tanks, support structures, valves, valve actuators, and controls.
  • Performs corrective maintenance on plant equipment and process systems such as parts replacement, equipment changes, cleaning of tanks and etc.
  • Prepares specifications and procures parts and equipment through the procurement process.
  • Requires forklift operation.
  • Safely Work in a deionizer regeneration plant environment, work in confined spaces, lifting, climbing, and stooping, and exposure to water, grease, noise, chemicals, and fumes.
  • Take appropriate initiative to deal with potential issues before they become problems.
  • Work in a wet and mechanical environment.
  • Work with Plant Supervisor to operate/manage the overall plant operation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in processing ion exchange resins and resin plant operations
  • Experience with pumps, welding, electrical safety, forklifts, hydraulics, and valves.
  • Formal vocational training in plant maintenance activities with emphasis on industrial applications or equivalent job experience in electricity, power distribution, industrial electrical wiring, mechanics, machine operations, general plumbing, heating ventilation, air conditioning, or boiler operations
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous safety and behavioral-based safety culture experience
  • Prior experience working with MS Office, Auto-Cad, or Visio applications

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Able to work in difficult situations such as confined spaces, heat, and heights
  • Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position
  • Technical ability to learn and become proficient in pretreatment/mechanical water treatment equipment including reverse osmosis, water softeners, filters, and deionization
