Job Profile
The company is recruiting a Plant Weld Quality Engineer who will be responsible for providing day-to-day quality engineering support within the plant operations facility.
Primary support will be the Welding, Fabrication, and Assembly Areas.
Education Level
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering (Weld Engineering, Metallurgy, Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial) or equivalent education and working experience.
Work Experience
- 3 or more years of manufacturing experience in heavy industrial, automotive, and aerospace, including welding, fabrication, and assembly.
- Knowledge and experience in welding NDT inspection methods (MT, PT, VT, UT) – a plus
- QMS knowledge and experience with ISO 9000, TS 16949, or AS 9100 (a plus)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Adheres to the Company’s code of conduct and business ethics standards.
- Assists in the development and revisions to procedures and standard work to support the plant operation quality system.
- Assists with supplier audits, qualification, and launch of new products through the APQP process and requirements.
- Conducts internal quality system process audits.
- Conducts measurement systems analysis and process capability studies as required.
- Conducts quality system training as required.
- Develops inspection plans used for the verification of manufactured and purchased components.
- Interfaces with and assists customers with product acceptance and delivery releases
- Interfaces with key suppliers as required, assuring timely resolution of quality issues.
- Leads and participates in continuous improvement teams to reduce the cost of poor quality (COPQ), first pass yields, increase product flow/throughput, and achieve on-time delivery performance.
- Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry codes and standards.
- Participates and supports the Material Review Board.
- Participates in the ECN process and product team meetings to resolve quality issues.
- Performs first article dimensional reviews for both internally and externally manufactured parts.
- Provide technical support to plant operations.
- Reviews and approves design, manufacturing, and inspection test results for compliance with requirements.
- Supports COPQ metrics and analysis for CI teams. Generates various reporting metrics for scrap and rework, and first pass yield.
- Supports the management and disposition of non-conforming material.
- Works with customer service to address product issues, warranty, or other problems.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to organize, facilitate, and lead product quality, process, and system improvement teams.
- Demonstrated problem-solving, process capability, data analysis, measurement systems analysis, GD&T, and blueprint reading skills.
- Proficient in personal computer capabilities in MS Office software, Minitab, or other quality data analysis tools.
- Strong planning, organizing, and proven leadership/team building skills.
- Formal Lean or 6-Sigma training with significant demonstrated accomplishments – a plus.

- Exposed to heat, noise, and metal fumes
- May involve standing, bending, and lifting parts
- Mix of office work and on-site inspections
- Requires PPE like gloves, a helmet, and safety glasses
- Works in manufacturing plant and welding areas
