Job Profile
The company (Raytheon) is searching for a Plumber/Pipefitter/Sprinkler Fitter who will perform installation, modification, and repairs as well as general maintenance and housekeeping of workplace, tools, equipment, and safety requirements.
Troubleshoots, maintains, repairs, and installs various plumbing-related systems and equipment related to facility and manufacturing process needs, including air, gas, water, steam, process, fluid distribution, vent, waste, and mechanical piping. This includes, but is not limited to, replacing, and repairing worn or inadequate pipes, valves, fixtures, pumps, heads, traps, water heaters, and appliances.
Installs and maintains low-pressure vessels, cuts, threads, mechanically joins, and solders a variety of pipes such as copper, PVC, CPVC, steel, and other work as assigned.
Works from engineering drawings, sketches, and or verbal direction to perform installation, maintenance, repair, and testing for all aspects of plumbing, pipe fitting, and sprinkler work including layout, installation, and repairs according to approved codes.
Education Level
- Not mentioned, yet a High School Diploma will be a plus
Work Experience
- 4 years of apprenticeship plumbing or 5 years of minimum related experience
- Current Massachusetts journeyman plumber’s license or current Massachusetts journeyman sprinkler fitter license or Massachusetts Pipefitters license
Duties/Responsibilities
- Creates stock lists in conjunction with or reviewed with the group leader.
- Initiates follow-up actions as required.
- Installs or modifies plumbing-related piping as needed.
- Maintains clean work area,
- Maintains hydrofluoric acid, sulfuric acid, and caustic washing machines and storage installations using the safety equipment prescribed.
- Maintains records, moves materials/equipment, and follows safety rules in the performance of duties.
- Maintains, repairs, and installs various plumbing, piping, and sprinkler-related systems.
- Maintains, repairs, or replaces various types of pipes, fixtures, pumps, valves, heads, traps, water heaters, and appliances.
- Makes daily inspections and repairs.
- Makes major repairs to pipelines within and leading to various ovens, plating tanks, degreasers, manufacturing and test equipment, etc.
- Notifies supervision when major and extensive repairs or modifications are necessary.
- Performs general maintenance and daily housekeeping of workplace, tools, and equipment.
- Trace and identify causes of plumbing and piping system leaks or malfunctions and restore to approved operating standards.
- Working with a variety of hand and power tools associated with the Plumber/Pipefitter/Sprinkler Fitter trade. This includes but is not limited to, Prepress, Mega press, power and manual pipe threaders, hot tap, tripod, cutters, benders, power snakes, bench drills and grinders, electric drills and hammers, orbital tube welder. Other tools common to the trade such as wrenches, hammers, cold chisels, stepladders and extension ladders, aerial/scissor lifts and scaffolding, acetylene torches, and other related tools.
- Works from sketches, prints, operating manuals, and other written or verbal directions.
- Works to layout, install, and maintain piping for high-pressure and low-pressure air, gas, water, steam, waste, process, fluid distribution, illuminating gas, hydrogen, oxygen, and other liquids and gases for equipment related to the manufacturing process and the facility, as well as fire sprinkler systems.
- Works under engineering direction on water processing installations for production.
- Performs other similar duties as required or directed.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Working knowledge of various pipe joining methods including but not limited to Victaulic couple and groove, Mega press, pro press, threaded pipe, solvent weld, brazing, and soldering
- Basic Computer skills
- Works well with others
- Proven history of reliable work habits
- Reliable transportation for alternate center assignments
- Ability to communicate effectively, read and interpret safety procedures
- Working knowledge of heating and fluid distribution systems
Preferred Qualifications
- MA Journeyman Plumbers License
- MA Journeyman Pipe Fitter License
- OSHA safety certificate
- Trade School experience
