The company is searching for a Powertrain Process Engineer to join its team.

Educational Qualification

The prospective applicants should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from a university or college.

Work Experience

  • The candidates should have 0 to 3 years of experience (required)
  • Experience with Powertrain new model launch

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Develop all work instructions based on standard time data that supports production cycle times
  • Develop Powertrain processes and line layouts considering a lean layout, cycle time, cost, multi-model line flexibility, and safety
  • Develop project management plan and maintain project schedule; identify key milestones, identify issues with cost and resources and develop countermeasure plans for Drive Unit Contract Manufacturer
  • Develop specifications for Powertrain equipment procurement
  • Equipment Procurement: Interact with purchasing department to make sure all materials comply with applicable standards, specify tooling and equipment to assure process capability and safety
  • Implement Powertrain best practices and identify common manufacturing requirements; document and standardize
  • Investigate the process of the latest BIW Joining technologies; spot welding, laser application, body adhesive bonding, friction stir welding, riveting, clinching, fasteners, etc.
  • Lead MFG Equipment procurement, equipment buy-off, installation, and validation of Powertrain machinery
  • Lead Powertrain investigation for off tooling process for new model launch; read CMM reports / Vectron measurements and determine problem-solving strategies to improve model launch BIW body accuracy.
  • Lead Value Added Engineering for processes, joining technologies, and machine designs
  • Manage machine vendors and contractors; negotiate contracts, budgets, and business arrangements
  • Participate in MFG Development Builds
  • Perform all necessary PFMEA’s and required control plans based on known DFMEA and Process definitions
  • Review and approve machine designs based on quality, productivity, safety, and cost
  • Simultaneous Engineering: Interact with design engineering for Powertrain component and assembly design for manufacturing related to the best manufacturing methodology, technology, and lean processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to travel domestically in North America and Internationally as required
  • Ability to work and deliver under pressure in a cross-functional team environment
  • Experience in equipment safety standards and conducting risk assessments
  • Experience in Powertrain Model Launch / Pilot role and/or Body Shop floor management
  • Experience with coordinate measuring machines, Vectron, etc.
  • Knowledge of Shop Equipment Controls; preferably Siemens systems.
  • Previous automotive experience is desired; self-driven; able to work in a multi-disciplinary environment; disciplined; BIW experience is desired, teamwork skills are a must
  • Project management experience
  • Working Knowledge of CAD; Catia, Solidworks, AutoCAD
