Job Profile

The company is hiring a Precision Grinder who will load and unload parts in the operation of 3-5 axis CNC mill and lathe machine cells to produce complex machined aerospace parts.

Responsible for in-process inspection of machined products, which requires basic competencies in shop math, hand-measuring tools, and documentation.

Responsible for some deburr operations as well as basic preventative machine maintenance, which includes coolant and lube levels and area cleanliness.

Education Level

  • High School Diploma or GED (preferred but not required)

Work Experience

  • 1+ years of experience in machining/grinding
  • Requires basic experience working with mechanical processes and methods such as hand tools, and light equipment such as saws, drills, and pneumatic tools.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Interact with production tracking tools such as Labor Track and Shop Trak to charge time to job orders and claim parts at the end of the shift.
  • Load and unload product to be machined in several fixtures and operations.
  • Machine or grind the parts as required per the work instructions.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and 6S standards throughout department and work facility
  • Perform and record in-process inspection actions such as measuring and validating part features in light of customer-supplied dimensional tolerances and specifications.
  • Perform basic deburr operations such as edge breaking and light surface blending using several deburr tools
  • Personally, observe safety and security procedures and the proper use of equipment and materials. Actively promote safety processes and report any safety issues to proper channels for action.
  • Precision OD grinding and precision surface grinding
  • Protect machines and machined products by following processes and procedures such as part loading, being in control of the machine, and safely transporting products over short distances.
  • Transfer parts to the quality department for inspection
  • Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • A basic knowledge of deburr tools and methods.
  • A basic knowledge of hand tools and mechanical applications regarding nuts and bolts.
  • A basic knowledge of inspection tools and their proper use.
  • A basic knowledge of part-holding methods and procedures.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced production environment
  • An introductory competence in shop math such as working with fractions and decimals.
  • The ability to interact with computers and CNC controls at a basic level.
  • The ability to read and write English.
