Job Profile

The company is seeking a Press Operator who will be involved in the machining or processing of metal parts by operating hydraulic Press Machines.

Educational Level

  • Not mentioned, yet a High School Diploma will be a plus

Work Experience

  • Experience in Okuma, Mazak, and Mori lathe machines (preferred)

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Document production information such as lot number, number of pieces, and date/time of production.
  • Examines completed workpieces for defects, such as chipped edges or marred surfaces, and sorts defective pieces
  • Examines the finished part for nicks, burrs, and cracks.
  • Makes necessary adjustments to the machine to ensure quality output
  • Measures completed workpieces to verify conformance to specifications, using micrometers, gauges, or calipers.
  • Observes press operations and notifies the Lead Person of any malfunctions.
  • Position guides, stops, holding blocks, or other fixtures to secure and direct workpieces, using hand tools and measuring devices.
  • Read work orders or production schedules to determine specifications, such as materials to be used, dimensions, and tolerances.
  • Starts machines, monitors machine operation, and records operational data.
  • Weighs parts on the scale and measures dimensions to ensure conformance to specifications.

  • Ability to document machining procedures
  • Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled shop environment
  • Ability to work in a team setting
  • Consistently stand for an entire shift
  • Great work ethic, reliable, positive attitude
  • Knowledge of all required measuring equipment which includes calipers, gauges
  • Knowledge of metals, part-holding fixtures, and lathe/mill tooling
  • Physically able to handle heavy items, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning components
  • Proficient math skills
  • Simple oral communication skills; ability to read and comprehend instructions written in English and complete simple logs and reports in English
  • Strong knowledge of machining practices and materials is a must, as is general mechanical knowledge
  • Willingness to be trained with a desire to learn
  • Work scheduled hours and comply with the company’s timekeeping policy and all other company policies
