Job Profile
The company is hiring a Process Engineer who will work on process design and improvements for manufacturing to increase productivity and improve manufacturing flow.
Education Level
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology from a university/college
Work Experience
- 3-5 years of various manufacturing processes (stamping, fabrication, welding, assembly, etc.) and tooling experience (in the automotive environment is preferred)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Abide by all Company policies including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook
- Analyse data and identify root causes of defects. Provide corrective actions in order to improve a particular process or product yield.
- Assist in developing PFMEA/FMEA/PCP and PFD’s
- Assist the Health and Safety team in the design and implementation of ergonomic projects
- Consistently develop, assess, and implement continuous improvement projects in relation to current or future project planning.
- Develop efficient manufacturing methods through labor utilization standards, machine capacity, facility utilization, and cost analysis
- Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and legislation including Environmental Legislation, O. Reg 851 for Industrial Establishments, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (with emphasis on Section 28, (1) (a)-(d), (2) (a)-(c)).
- Improve the efficiency of processes through lean manufacturing tools.
- Improve overall part process, process flow, and process development.
- Make improvements to the production process by using 5S, Root-Cause Analysis, and Poka-Yoke to improve the quality of products, reduce scrap, and eliminate waste.
- Prepare quotation(s) of all plant-related equipment and activities to give to estimators or program managers
- Update and maintain plant layout
- Update program documentation, and write reports, work instructions, and procedure manuals as required
- Work on co-extrusion die design development and process development
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Advanced MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook) Knowledge
- Excellent English communication skills (oral and written)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge in CAD: 3D Models, Drawings, and GD&Ts (an asset)
- Strong facilitation skills
Health/Safety
- Must use or wear Personal Protective Equipment and certain clothing as required by the Company
- Must work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Company and plant rules, policies and procedures
Work Environment
- 50% Office environment
- 50% Plant floor
- Wear PPE (required)
Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
- Must be able to work with push-pull forces of up to 50 lbs. or less
