Job Profile

The company is seeking a Process Engineer who will coordinate the setup of processes and projects and monitors equipment suppliers to ensure timelines are met and that all process conflicts and issues are resolved as they arise.

Also, supports the implantation of new processes and projects by participating in design reviews and related meetings, the development of pre-production part samples and prototypes, and by training other departments in new equipment processes and procedures.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants should have completed Post Secondary education in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technologist from a college/university

Work Experience

  • Possess a minimum of 10 years of experience in a related field
  • Experience designing and building weld cells in an automotive manufacturing environment is an asset.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Through effective Project Management and knowledge of the RFQ process provides accurate and timely setup of the assembly process and related costs.
  • Monitoring of equipment suppliers to ensure program timelines are met while effectively resolving technical issues and managing conflict/resolution activities.
  • Provides input and support to the Program Managers during APQP and in the development of PFMEAs by participating in design reviews and related meetings.
  • Assists in the development of pre-production part samples and prototypes
  • Supports the team by training other departments in new equipment processes and procedures
  • Weld schedules and Stepper development
  • Supports the development of SWIs

Other Tasks-

  • Continuously adhere to and apply the Magna Employee’s Charter, the Magna Corporate Constitution, and the Magna Operational Principles in all aspects of position and interaction with others.
  • Effective use of Maple’s Escalation Process.
  • Compliance with IATF customer requirements
  • Attends all scheduled meetings and training.
  • Understands and follows established rules, procedures, and policies relating to the position.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by observing safe work practices and by following all safety policies and procedures.
  • Other duties that may be assigned.

Key Qualifications

  • Ability to read blueprints (mechanical/electrical and part print)
  • Equipment knowledge to include Welding, Robotics, WTC controls, and PLC. CAD knowledge (an asset)
  • Good command of the English language both verbal and written
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Strong aptitude in all forms of welding
  • Strong aptitude in troubleshooting assembly equipment and quality failures
